摘要： An apparatus and method for enhancing the security of a cluster box unit which includes a protective enclosure, internal cabinetry, door, hinge and locking system. The cluster box unit may also include outgoing mail compartment doors that are heavily constructed and rigidly reinforced, with the locks carried thereon protectively shielded, and with the extensible bolts of these locks being engaged by brackets that not only lock the outgoing mail compartment doors but also the master loading doors of the cluster box units. The cluster box unit may also include master loading doors are provided with hinges that extend the full height of the doors—hinges that are defined by pivotally interfitting elements of extrusions that very sturdily mount the master loading doors, that prevent prying or bending the doors in the vicinities of their hinges. The interfitting elements of the hinge extrusions also permit the doors to be installed on their surrounding door frames quickly and easily, and permit one or both of the master loading doors to be quickly and easily removed for service or replacement when necessary.

摘要： A cylinder lock provided with a thick key including an elongated base having two surfaces. A serrated wall extends from one surface of the base. A key groove is formed by the serrated wall. A rib is formed on the other surface of the base. The cylinder lock is further provided with a rotatable rotor including a keyway into which the thick key is inserted. A first cavity is formed in the keyway and shaped to enable insertion of the base of the thick key. A second cavity is formed in the keyway and shaped to enable insertion of the serrated wall of the thick key. A third cavity is formed in the keyway and shaped to enable insertion of the rib of the thick key. The keyway enables insertion of a thin key in lieu of the thick key.

摘要： A consumer product dispensing system and method may include a product dispensing unit having a plurality of vending compartments. Each compartment may be adapted to contain a consumer product and may be accessible through a separate door secured with a lock. A single use access mechanism attached to each door may allow a customer to unlock the lock for a one-time access to one of the vending compartments. Once the lock is unlocked, subsequent unlocking of the lock may be prohibited until the lock is reset. The single use access mechanism may include a key capture lock system and a single use access mechanism actuating element such as a key. Such a system and method may be useful for dispensing consumer products at a location remote from the point of sale.

摘要： A multifunction padlock for providing a single unit lock that has the functions of an ordinary lock in conjunction with a lockout system with multiple staples that can be used as a group or individual access lock. To attain this, the multifunction padlock generally comprises of a housing, a staple unit within the housing, a lockout unit within the housing working in conjunction with the staple unit, a group lockout lever attached to the lockout unit parallel to the main shackle, a shackle unit attached from the holding rod to the keying mechanism parallel to the main shackle, a group lockout lever attached in conjunction with the lockout unit and parallel to the unlocking control rod, a shackle unit attached to the top inner chamber of the housing, and a keying mechanism attached in the inner chamber to the bottom surface of the housing. Each staple unit preferably includes a staple held between a top member and a bottom member with an aperture for attaching conventional locks through, a top member and a bottom member attached to the housing parallel to the staple for guiding the staple in and out of the inner chamber, a first spring attached from the top member to the first peg, a hold link attached from the top member to the staple, and the spacers attached perpendicular to the top and bottom members. The lockout unit is comprised of a button protruding partially out of the front surface of the housing for engaging the lockout mode, a button control rod attached from the bottom member to the button portion residing in the inner chamber, a second spring attached from the bottom member to the button, a stopping member attached to the bottom member, and a first peg attached normal to the staple.
