摘要: A fuel injection nozzle of the inwardly opening type includes first and second coiled compression springs operable to load the valve member to the closed position. The first spring is initially opposed by the second spring and finally assisted by the second spring during the movement of the valve member there being an intermediate range of valve member movement during which the first spring alone resists the movement of the valve member.

摘要: A bottom feed fuel injector as used in single point fuel injection systems is fabricated from sintered iron or powdered metal. This reduces secondary machining operations and therefore reduces cost of injectors. Additionally, static adjustments are capable of being made from the end of the injector opposite the discharge end. A top feed injector is described wherein several of its critical elements are molded from sintered iron or powdered metal.

摘要: PCT No. PCT/US79/01091 Sec. 371 Date Nov. 30, 1979 Sec. 102(e) Date Nov. 30, 1979 PCT Filed Nov. 30, 1979Loss of valve opening pressure (VOP) attributed to wear of contacting portions in fuel injection nozzle valves (22) is limited due to provision of a valve tip (38) having a lower portion (38a) which repetitively engages only a lower portion (40a) of a valve seat (40). Advantageous wear of the engaging portions increases the seating area but reduces the effective differential area for fuel pressure to act against, thus reducing the need for increased pressure to open or unseat the valve (22). Increased clearance results in less wear between a reciprocating valve (36) and a cooperating guide (34) which also contributes to reduced (VOP) loss during the life of such nozzle valves (22).

摘要: A precision fuel injector having an inwardly opening pressure operated valve positioned in a bore forming a valve chamber and guided for reciprocal movement to open and close the valve wherein the valve guide at the end of the valve chamber opposite the valve tip is provided with a sleeve extending into the valve chamber to provide an integral filter. The sleeve is interposed between the fuel inlet and the valve chamber and provides communication therebetween through a pair of annular clearances having a width which is one-half or less of the diameter of the discharge orifices of the injector to trap solid particles and prevent the blockage thereof. The filter construction retains the trapped particles in the flow path where the velocity of fuel flow is maximum to subject them to the repetitive high pressure hydraulic forces as sequential measured charges of fuel are delivered to the injector to hammer them against the hardened metal edge of the filter and pulverize them to render the filter self-cleaning.

摘要: A fuel system for an internal combustion engine includes a pressurized fuel supply, and a fuel injector fluidly connected to the pressurized fuel supply. The fuel injector includes a valve seat plate forming a valve seat, an injection control valve, and a nozzle cavity. A filter, which can include a 2-dimensional filter, is positioned partially within the valve seat plate and partially within an injector body to filter an incoming flow of high-pressure fuel. The valve seat plate and filter are integrated in a valve seat plate and filter assembly.
