Abstract: A mechanical accumulator for holding and supplying a volume of hydraulic fluid under pressure comprising a variable volume fluid pressure chamber including a piston and a cylinder member, a plurality of coil springs acting on one of said members for biasing the same towards the other of said members to minimize the volume of said chamber and pressurize the fluid therein, a fluid conduit for directing pressurized fluid into and out of said chamber and switch means externally of said chamber and actuated by one of said members in response to the volume changes of said chamber for controlling the operation of a fluid device using fluid from the chamber.

Abstract: An accumulator for maintaining a substantially constant pressure above ambient in a hydraulic system including a hollow cylinder which has an opening at one location to ambient and an opening at another location for communication with the hydraulic system; a piston and pushrod disposed in the cylinder for reciprocatory movement between the open locations; and a negator spring which has an arcuate end which is connected to the pushrod and an opposite end which is connected to the cylinder. A rolling diaphragm may be connected to an end of the piston and to the cylinder at a location about the piston wall.

Abstract: A drop-in signal accumulator piston assembly to replace an original equipment (OE) signal accumulator piston in a vehicle transmission hydraulic circuit, the OE signal accumulator piston being positioned in a bore in a valve body having an open end and a fluid port. The drop-in signal accumulator piston assembly includes a sleeve having open first and second ends. The sleeve is configured to be positioned within the bore of the valve body with the first end closer than the second end to the fluid port. A piston is positioned in the sleeve and a spring biases the piston towards the fluid port. A plug is positioned in the bore closer to the second end of the sleeve than to the first end of the sleeve to thereby removably retain the sleeve, the piston, and the spring within the bore.
