    摘要: A method for forming a hub having blind bore with an elevated blind bore face is provided. The blind bore face is elevated relative to the upper surface of an annular disc from which the hub is integrally formed, by first displacing metal radially inward from the upper surface toward the center of the disc to form an elevated surface with a hole therethrough, and second displacing metal radially inward, again from the upper surface toward the center of the disk, to form a hub which incorporates a blind bore having an elevated surface. A blind bore hub formed by the foregoing method is also provided.

    摘要: A method of constructing a pulley comprising a shaft, annular members and a rim, wherein the shaft has an integral tapered surface of a uniform slope near each end. The annular members have an interior periphery of a slightly larger diameter than the outside diameter of the shaft. The interior periphery of the annular members also includes a tapered surface with substantially the same slope as the outside diameter of the shaft at its tapered surfaces. In constructing the pulley, the shaft is inserted through the rim. The annular members are then placed over the ends of the shaft and displaced axially toward the tapered surfaces of the shaft until the tapered surface of the annular members are mateably engaged over the tapered surfaces of the shaft. A compressive interference connection is thereby created between the tapered surfaces. A continuous weld is placed all around the outside face of the annular member where the annular member intersects the shaft.     摘要: In a method of making a poly-V grooved pulley from a circular flat plate of sheet metal of a predetermined thickness, the central portion of the parent flat plate is pressed to form a cup-shaped blank integral with a circular flat peripheral flange of the same thickness as that of the parent flat plate, the cup-shaped blank having a predetermined thickness thinner than that of the parent flat plate. The cup-shaped blank is pressed to form a hub wall, and the circular flat peripheral flange is drawn to form a cylindrical pulley flange wall. At the final stage, the cylindrical pulley flange wall is formed in its exterior periphery with a plurality of V-shaped grooves for a poly-V belt.

    摘要: A pulley having an axially extending annular belt engaging wall construction including an axial wall portion formed of sheet metal. The sheet metal also forms a circular wall portion integral at one end with the axial wall portion and extending radially inwardly and axially inwardly with respect to the one end of the axial wall portion. The circular wall portion has an annular bend in an intermediate annular area thereof and extends therefrom radially inwardly and axially outwardly to a hub construction. The hub construction is formed of first and second axial parts. The first part is formed integrally from the sheet metal into a cylindrical wall structure extending axially inwardly from the circular wall portion. The second part is made of sheet metal to include a cylindrical wall portion having an annular flange extending therefrom rigidly fixed to the circular wall portion. The cylindrical wall structure and cylindrical wall portion include aligned interior cylindrical shaft engaging surfaces. The axially outward end of the cylindrical wall portion provides an integral radially outwardly extending annular lip suitable to be operatively engaged by a pulling tool for removing the interior cylindrical surface from engagement with a shaft on which it has been engaged.

    摘要: A sheet steel poly-V-grooved pulley having a special cross-sectional contour is made optionally by any one of three different cold working manufacturing procedures. Special physical properties or characteristics are developed in the pulley by the manner in which the metal in the V-groove body and single and double walled terminal flanges are cold worked. The cold working involves forming in stages of manufacturing from a cup-shaped blank to the finished pulley product a stepped inner body wall surface equivalent to a tapered surface with improved substantially uniform torque transmitting strength in the grooved body from web wall to open end. Also involved in the cold working is an increase in pulley diameter in certain portions of the finished pulley and a decrease in diameter in other portions from the diameter of the side wall of the cup shaped starting blank.

    摘要: A multiple groove pulley is formed from a cup-shaped blank by an apparatus and method in which axially displaceable segmental shaping rings are positioned at axially predetermined positions along the wall of the blank. Fluid pressure communicated to the interior of the blank expands the wall of the blank into contact with the shaping rings and at least one of the shaping rings is independently movable in an axial direction while the blank is compressed for simultaneous formation of the grooves. A sleeve member is movable axially over at least one of the shaping rings to resist radial movement of the segments while at the same time permitting full compression of the blank.
