    摘要: A method and apparatus is disclosed for an electron beam directed energy device. The device consists of an electron gun with one or more electron beams. The device includes one or more accelerating plates with holes aligned for beam passage. The plates may be flat or preferably shaped to direct each electron beam to exit the electron gun at a predetermined orientation. In one preferred application, the device is located in outer space with individual beams that are directed to focus at a distant target to be used to impact and destroy missiles. The aimings of the separate beams are designed to overcome Coulomb repulsion. A method is also presented for directing the beams to a target considering the variable terrestrial magnetic field. In another preferred application, the electron beam is directed into the ground to produce a subsurface x-ray source to locate and/or destroy buried or otherwise hidden objects including explosive devices.

    摘要: A forwarding looking ground penetrating mine detection apparatus includes a radiation source for irradiating a sample of ground suspected of containing at least one mine with a plurality of frequency swept ground penetrating radar signals. A detector receives target signals backscattered from the ground responsive to the radar signal. The detector includes a time-frequency analyzer which transforms the target signals into a time-frequency image representation (TFR). In a preferred embodiment, the detector can include a wavelet packet transformer (WPT) for extracting time-frequency localized information from the TFR in the form of feature set constructed from a wavelet table. The apparatus can also include a data dimensionality reducer for selecting features to form a feature subset from the feature set, preferably based on reference to a training data set. A multilayer neural network classifier can be based on the feature subset, and be adaptable to the surrounding environment through learning.

    摘要: A coalbed methane borehole pipe liner perforation system comprises a plastic pipe punch that slips down inside a coalbed methane production borehole lined with a non-perforated plastic pipe. A ground-penetrating radar is used inside the plastic-pipe lined borehole to determine which sections of the pipe are in contact with groundwater. The punch is then operated along the length of the plastic-pipe lined borehole to perforate it for methane-gas collection wherever such groundwater is not present. A radar survey to determine groundwater contact can be made simultaneously in combination with the punching of liner pipe perforations, or earlier in a separate operation.

    摘要: A multifunctional, portable tool has a generally cylindrical elongate body. The body has a male portion at the body first end having a first mating element adjacent the first end. The male portion tapers toward the first end. The body also has a female portion at the body's second end that has an axial bore extending from an opening at the body's second end. A second mating element is positioned within the bore, which is adapted to mate with the first mating element. The bore has a diameter sufficient to admit at least part of the male portion. In one embodiment, the male portion of the first tool is retained within the bore of the second tool by a friction fit. In a second embodiment, the male and female portions mate via a screw thread and groove.

    摘要: A method for neutralization of the explosive content of mines and UXO by essentially completely consuming the explosive by combustion or decomposition before any explosion occurs. A charge of a compound that reacts with an extremely high heat-release rate is ignited on or near the casing of the device to be neutralized. The intense exothermic reaction generates high temperature combustion products that will disrupt the casing, thus leading to combustion or decomposition of the explosive. The holes melted in the mine casing enable ignition of a large area of the explosive charge and provide easy access for atmospheric air to support active burnout of the explosive. The apparatus comprises the compound that reacts with a high heat release rate, an ignition source, and a container for the assembly.

    摘要: A mine detector is provided for detecting buried land mines safely and promptly. A sensor head (12) is connected to a detector body (1) through hinges (11-1 to 11-4) and arms (12-1 to 12-3). The sensor head (12) includes a transmitting and receiving means for emitting electromagnetic impulses to the ground within a range of detection of land mines. When the transmitting and receiving means receives electromagnetic waves reflected from a land mine, information on the three-dimensional structure of the land mine buried under the ground is generated on the basis of the time of arrival of the reflected wave, the level of the reflected wave and the x and y coordinates of the transmitting and receiving means, and the information is displayed on a display (1). The detector is also applicable to the inspection of steel rods and bars for concrete reinforcement.

The probe tip ultrasonically provides an indication of the presence of a metal or plastic material. Therefore, before too much force is applied to the tip, a user is warned and accidental detonation may be prevented.
