Abstract: A hard cover product having an outer liner attached to a pair of sheet members disposed in spaced-apart relation to define a gap. One of the hard sheet members defines a receiving zone that receives a security tag. An inner liner attaches overlying the pair of hard sheet members and concealing the security tag within the receiving zone. The gap between the pair of sheet members defines a spine for the hard cover product, whereby the opposing hard sheets defining a front cover and back cover that move together foldably. Methods of making a hard cover product and of making an intermediate board for use in a hard cover product are disclosed.

Abstract: The present invention provides a package which includes a container and structure within such container to hold storage media or a product including such storage media therewithin. An audio system is operatively associated with the exterior of such package. The audio system includes a self-contained electrical power source and a single “on/off” switch which is electrically connected to the electrical power source. A speaker is connected to the controller/memory circuit A read/write controller/memory circuit is electrically connected to the on/off switch. Such circuit includes a software playback processor and is uploaded with a plurality of selected sound files which are intimately associated with, but are separate and distinct from, the storage media or the product including the storage media which is in the package. The processor/memory thus is uploaded with a software playback program. Such playback program is manually actuated by means of such single “on/off” switch to effect one of a series of particularly-specified operations which are manually selected by a potential purchaser When the single “on/off” switch is actuated to its “on” position, the sound files are broadcast over the speaker according to the playback program which has been manually selected by a potential purchaser.

Abstract: A goods protection device for the sale and/or rental distribution of information carrier discs, including CDs and DVDs, is disclosed. The goods protection device generally comprises a housing encasing a storage space. The housing is provided with a fastening unit consisting of a locking piece and another locking piece cooperating with it. The housing is constructed as a protecting envelope comprising a first protecting plate and a second protecting plate, at least part of the first protecting plate and the second protecting plate separated from each other by a space. The space has a maximum width of six times the width of the information carrier disc. Therefore, at least a part of the information carrier disc is temporarily accommodated within the space of the protecting envelope consisting of the first and second protecting plates. The first protecting plate of the protecting envelope is surrounded by a first bordering rim and the second protecting plate of the protecting envelope is surrounded by a second bordering rim such as at least a part of the first bordering rim of the first protecting plate and at least a part of the second bordering rim of the second protecting plate are inseparably fastened together by a connection piece. While in the section of the first and second bordering rims where there is no connection piece, there is a passage connected to the space created for temporarily accommodating at least a part of the information carrier disc. At least one of the first and second protecting plates has a free flap in the vicinity of the passage such that the one locking piece of the fastening unit is fixed into the free flap in a fixed position and the other locking piece of the fastening unit is connected to the one locking piece freely in its normal position or at least partly covering the centre hole of the information carrier disc through this hole when it is being used.

Abstract: A sound-producing folding insert for a magazine is disclosed. A foldable support structure comprises a primary page and a secondary page. The secondary page is folded upon itself to form a pocket that retains a sound emitting means. The sound emitting means includes an electronic microchip sound generating device that includes a switch means connected at one end to a slidable tongue mechanism that is attached at the other end to the primary page, such that upon opening of the folding insert by separating the primary and secondary pages the slidable tongue mechanism allows the switch means to close, thereby activating the sound emitting means. Conversely, closing the folding insert brings the primary and secondary pages together forces the slidable tongue mechanism to open the switch means, and thereby deactivating the sounds emitting means. The sound emitting means is relatively flat and includes a generally flat speaker mounted to the secondary page. Generally flat button batteries are included to power the device when the sound emitting means is activated.

Abstract: A security device for preventing theft of a disk such as a CD or DVD from a storage container having a base and a hinged lid, a pedestal including a button having retainers thereon that retract when the button is depressed for releasing the disk, and a wrapper holding the container closed. The device has a cap member and rearwardly extending flange and stem members. Release of the disk from the pedestal and removal of the disk through a slit made in the wrapper is blocked by the cap member preventing depression of the button, the flange member also positively holding the disk on the pedestal when the lid is deformed against the device. Preferably the device is releasably retained in a seated condition when the lid of the container is open. Also disclosed is a method for securing a disk container.
