Abstract:
A thermo-pump includes a sealed casing, divided into a main casing volume and one or more secondary volumes. A thermo-pump includes a shaft. A thermo-pump includes a displacer, coupled to the shaft and oscillates to create a pressure gain between a high-pressure phase and a low-pressure phase. A thermo-pump includes one or more displacer rings, wherein the displacer rings are made from a material with thermal properties below a threshold. A thermo-pump includes an insert, wherein the insert is configured to form a perimeter of the main casing volume, wherein the insert is made from a material with thermal properties below the threshold. A thermo-pump includes one or more bushings, wherein the one or more bushing separate the main casing volume and the one or more secondary volumes. A thermo-pump includes one or more gas bearings configured to prevent contact between the shaft and the sealed casing.
Abstract:
A method for producing a laser sustained plasma light by directing at least one laser into a gas volume and igniting a plasma that produces a light. Heated portions of the gas volume are removed from the plasma and cooled. The cooled portions of the gas volume are returned to the plasma in a laminar flow. The light is collected with a reflector and provided to a desired location.
Abstract:
A sealed high intensity illumination device configured to receive a laser beam from a laser light source and method for making the same are disclosed. The device includes a sealed cylindrical chamber configured to contain an ionizable medium. The chamber has a cylindrical wall, with an ingress and an egress window disposed opposite the ingress window. A tube insert is disposed within the chamber formed of an insulating material. The insert is configured to receive the laser beam within the insert inner diameter.
Abstract:
A ceramic metal halide lamp according to various embodiments can include a discharge vessel and an ionizable fill. The ionizable fill is sealed within the discharge vessel. The ionizable fill includes an oxygen dispenser to introduce oxygen in a form of a pellet into the discharge vessel in a controlled manner to facilitate a tungsten halogen wall cleaning cycle. The pellet comprises aluminum-oxide and molybdenum-oxide.
Abstract:
An electrode for dosing oxygen into a metal halide lamp, where the electrode supplies oxygen during lamp operation in an amount effective to maintain a wall cleaning tungsten halogen chemical cycle. Use of the oxygen dosing electrode increases the lumen maintenance of the lamp to 80% or higher at 6000 hours. A method for making an oxidized electrode for use as an oxygen dispenser into the discharge vessel of a metal halide lamp is also provided.
Abstract:
An internal induction lamp with a glass envelope bulb assembly and an inductor shaft assembly. The glass envelope bulb assembly is a hollow glass envelope bulb with a mercury amalgam stem protruding downwards from the bottom of the hollow glass envelope bulb. The mercury amalgam stem is fragile, and protected by a stem protector. The inductor shaft assembly, which inserts into the glass envelope bulb assembly accommodates the protrusion of the mercury amalgam stem along with the stem protector. The inductor shaft assembly and envelope bulb assembly may attach via a threaded ring connector. The inductor shaft assembly may have a heat sink, and a gap within the heat sink to accommodate placement of the stem protector within this gap.
Abstract:
Conventional mercury vapor discharge lamps include a closed emitter tube made of quartz glass having an emitter tube end, a gas-tight seal in the region of the emitter tube end, and two electrodes arranged inside the emitter tube for generating a discharge in a discharge zone between the electrodes, as well as an amalgam reservoir. In order to provide a mercury vapor discharge lamp having an amalgam reservoir, which can be operated at high efficiency at variable irradiation power and also is easy and inexpensive to manufacture, an annular gap is formed in the region of the emitter tube end between a quartz glass tube and the emitter tube, and the amalgam reservoir is arranged inside the annular gap.
Abstract:
An irradiation device includes: a light source having an amalgam alloy member that is disposed on a part of the inner surface of a light source tube; and a chamber in which the light source is disposed. The chamber includes: a main chamber body; and a first gas inflow port and a first gas outflow port that are formed in the main chamber body. The first gas inflow port and the first gas outflow port are arranged so that the outer surface of the part of the light source tube where the amalgam alloy member is disposed is positioned in a flow path of a gas that flows in through the first gas inflow port and flows out through the first gas outflow port.
