Abstract:
When an original image containing a code image is lossy-compressed, the image quality of the code image is deteriorated. Thus, due to the deterioration of the image quality of the code image, information contained in the code image cannot be acquired. Thus, a portion corresponding to the code image is not lossy compressed, and the portion corresponding to the code image, which has not been subjected to lossy compression, is stored in a storage unit.
Abstract:
Forensic communication apparatus and method. An apparatus is disclosed for recording image or other data in real time. The apparatus includes a capture device for capturing the image or other information. Once captured, a local verification device is operable to indelibly mark the captured image or other information with a representation of date, time, location and information identifying the creator of the data and location of the capture device. A transmitter is provided for transmitting the locally verified captured image or other information in real time to a secure storage facility. The capture device is operable, after the locally verified captured image or other information is transmitted to the secure storage facility, to receive and verify acknowledgment of the receipt of the transmitted locally verified captured image or other information to the storage facility.

Abstract:
An electronic-mail apparatus comprises an acceptor that accepts an electronic-mail, an electronic-mail transmitter that transmits the accepted electronic-mail to a designated electronic mail destination address, and an operational panel that includes a start member that starts a transmission of an electronic-mail to a destination address. The operational panel designates an electronic mail destination address, and further designates an alternative destination address, to be used in case of a transmission completion failure, to which a message indicating a failure in completion of a started transmission of an electronic-mail is sent when the transmission of an electronic-mail started by the start member is not completed. The message provides an indication, at the alternative destination address, of a transmission completion failure during transmission of an electronic-mail.
Abstract:
Image, video, and/or audio data is encoded with at least first and second watermarks. In one implementation a method includes: receiving content; embedding a first watermark signal in the content; compressing the content; embedding a second watermark signal in the content. The first watermark signal and the second watermark signal are designed to respond differently to at least a first type of signal processing. Other implementations are also provided.
Abstract:
Apparatus, systems and methods for authenticating images by digitally signing hidden messages near to the time of image capture are disclosed. In one implementation, a system includes an image data source and processing logic responsive to the image data source. The processing logic being capable of quantizing transformed image data blocks to generate encoded image data blocks and embedding a message within one or more of the encoded image data blocks by modulating one or more zero valued frequency coefficients. The processing logic may also be capable of generating metadata specifying at least the one or more zero valued frequency coefficients modulated to embed the message.
Abstract:
A variable c1 is counted up by one for the Nth bit in attribute information=“1”, and a variable c0 is counted up by one for the Nth bit=“0” (S402). When the total code amount of the coding results of pieces of attribute information which have been coded up to now has exceeded a predetermined threshold, a value held by the variable c0 at this time and that held by the variable c1 are compared with each other to determine which of “1” or “0” is set for the Nth bit of subsequently input attribute information (S405).

Abstract:
An electronic-mail reception apparatus has a body and includes a facsimile receiver that negotiates with a sender before receiving image data, to receive image data in facsimile format from the sender via a telephone network. An electronic-mail receiver receives image data in an electronic mail format and character code data in the electronic mail format from a mail sender via a communication network. A converter converts the image data in the electronic mail format into image data in the facsimile format, a font section converts the character code data received by the electronic-mail receiver into image data, and an output section outputs the image data converted by the converter and the image data converted by the font section. The facsimile receiver, the electronic-mail receiver, the converter, the font section and the output section are integrated in the body of the apparatus.
Abstract:
An electronic-mail apparatus, comprises an electronic-mail receiver that receives an electronic-mail via a network, a converter that converts the electronic-mail into printable image data, and a facsimile receiver that negotiates with a facsimile sender. The facsimile receiver receives facsimile image data from the facsimile sender via a telephone network. A printer is configured to print the converted image data and the received facsimile image data. The electronic-mail receiver, the converter, the facsimile receiver and the printer are integrated in the electronic-mail apparatus.
