Abstract: A cord safety device for a window covering includes a first and a second body. The cord releaser includes a hanging member connected to an end of a cord of the window covering and a blocking member connected to a valance of the window covering. The hanging member has an engaging portion, which has an engaging space, a gateway to be an entrance of the engaging space, and two edges at opposite sides of the gateway. The blocking member has a blocking portion to be detachably engaged with the engaging space of the hanging portion. The block portion has an oval cross section and the engaging space of the hanging member is complementary to it that only at a specific angle the blocking member is able to be engaged and disengaged with the hanging member.

Abstract: A window shade that reduces the risk of an individual becoming entangled in cords used to operate the shade includes a headrail adapted for horizontal mounting above a window, a shading material attached to the headrail, and at least one cord for raising and lowering the shading material. The cord is attached to a location adjacent a lower end of the material, and extends upward through split ring cord guides toward the headrail. The cord is encased within a collapsible shroud attached to each cord guide. The shroud is adapted to longitudinally extend as the shading material is lowered toward a deployed position, and then longitudinally collapse as the shading material is raised toward a stowed position.

Abstract: Applicants have disclosed an apparatus and method for avoiding the strangulation of children by dangling cords from window treatments (e.g., window blinds). The preferred apparatus comprises: a substantially flat base; spool means (e.g., a notched spool), extending from an end portion of the base, for physically winding a set of dangling cords (or a looped dangling cord) around from the window treatment; and connection means (e.g., a slide), extending from another end portion of the base, for connecting the apparatus, with the wound cord, into an uncovered top bracket for the window treatment. The preferred connection means is a slide, which either slides or clips into the uncovered bracket. For instances where brackets are unavailable (e.g., Roman shades or some mini-blinds), a suction cup can be used to attach the apparatus to the window frame or window, adjacent the highest point of the window treatment.

Abstract: Provided is a tourniquet having two opposing and pivotally movable plates. The plates comprise a clamp that pinches an elastomeric cord. The plates are pivotally biased together by a spring. The cord is attached to a back end of the clamp. A free end of the cord is squeezed by the plates such that a loop of cord is provided. The cord can be pulled from the clamp to reduce the size of the loop. The clamp comprises a safety lock that prevents movement of the plates and slipping of the cord. The safety lock can comprise a button disposed between the plates in the back end of the clamp, preventing the plates from moving together in the back portion, and therefore from moving apart in a front portion that grips the cord. Also, the tourniquet clamp can comprise a dual-sided press connector mechanism for fast release of tourniquet tension.

Abstract: A suspension or staying system uses a length of wire or cable with a hook or plain bead secured to one end. The hook may be secured directly or indirectly to a structure, or pass around a fixed structure such as a beam, purlin or girder, or something fixed thereto, such as a clip, hook or eye, and hooked to the length of wire to form a loop. The hook may include an enlarged beaded end which may be used directly with some fasteners or clamps, or with a clip to form a loop. The clip may be used with the plain beaded end or a hooked beaded end. The enlarged bead of either enables the length of wire to be caught by somewhat smaller holes in a variety of structural fasteners. The other or free end of the wire or cable is extended through a jam cleat and around an object to be suspended or stayed, and then back through the jam cleat to form a tightenable, adjustable loop simply by pulling on the free end. The jam cleat uses swinging wire gripping levers accommodating a range of wire sizes driving the wire against a curved surface tightly to grip the wire to prevent wire movement in one direction. In one form the jam cleat may be locked for seismic applications. Also included is a cleat or termination for directly or indirectly supporting or hanging a fixture or object without passing the wire or cable around the object.
