摘要： A high capacity change-over power supply fuse has an elongate fuse element holder, with fuse element mounting positions at each end. Sliding of the holder move one or the other of the fuse elements into contact with contact members mounted on the supply buses. The fuse element not in contact with the contact members is accessed through an aperture in a cover over the holder and contact members, a clip in cover fitting in the aperture. An aperture, is provided at each end of the cover for access to each fuse element when in a non-active position. Only the contact members need be silver plated, reducing the cost relative to conventional rotary change-over units.

摘要： A cable head includes a plurality of modular connection units, the insulating base of which bears rear and front connection members, and one earthing component. The cable head includes, in addition for each connection unit, at least one protection module which can be plugged into the base from the front, the module comprising a body of insulating material exhibiting two side-housings intended to each receive one lightning arrester, and of two pairs of wrap-around contact components arranged on the body and effecting on the one hand the contact between the front and rear connection members arranged face to face and on the other hand the contact with earth, each pair of contact components associated with a lightning arrester ensuring both the retention of the lightning arrester in its housing and reinforcement of the clamping onto the tails of the lightning arrester upon plugging in the module.

摘要： Pad-mounted double-fused switchgear especially adapted for use in underground distribution systems is provided which includes an oil tank having manually operable vacuum switch apparatus therein in conjunction with closely adjacent, series-connected, combination current limiting fuse-expulsion link protective fuse structure for maintaining the required momentary electrical rating of the overall switch apparatus notwithstanding of a relatively low-rated switch element, and for providing thermal protection for the switchgear. Double-fusing within the oil tank also serves to reduce electrical duty on upstream and downstream equipment, increases the interruption rating of the switchgear, and enhances overall system coordination. In preferred forms the expulsion link is temperature sensitive and is constructed to actuate only at relatively low fault current levels while remaining intact during high-level faults which actuate the backup current limiting fuse; in this manner effective total range fuse protection is maintained and the extent of attendant oil contamination is lessened since the expulsion link operates only during low level fault-clearing situations. Novel fuse well-double fuse assemblies adapted for use with pad-mounted electrical apparatus are also disclosed, along with structure for selectively holding the tank lid of such apparatus open against inadvertent closing thereof which can occur during high wind conditions.

摘要： A fuseholder for housing a tubular fuse comprises a female member for receiving the fuse while mounted in a metal panel and a male member having a housing on one end for insertably engaging the female member and a blown fuse indicating lamp on the other end which is visible from the front of the panel when the fuseholder is completely assembled. A metal ring encircling the walls of the lamp, which is connected to a wire mesh jacket enshrouding the surfaces of the lamp above the ring, contacts an annular terminal at the front end of the female member which is in contact with the panel to provide a shielding effect once the fuseholder is assembled.

摘要： A combination fuse ejector and protective shroud for cartridge type fuses includes a molded plastic receptacle having protective peripheral walls, an open top and a partially open bottom. The partially open bottom includes an opening adjacent each end through which the usual fuse holding contact clips protrude. A bridge portion across the bottom includes a holding pedestal which provides a loosely coupled captive mounting for the shroud. The bridge portion across the bottom of the shroud also includes a fuse-ejecting abutment adjacent one of the pair of contact clips whereby one end of the fuse may be ejected from that adjacent clip by the lifting of the shroud on its loosely captive pedestal.

摘要： A vacuum switch used for switching high voltage capacitive loads comprises a support chassis on which a hollow support insulator is mounted. One or more vacuum interrupters, each comprising an insulated envelope and relatively movable contacts, are mounted on the hollow support insulator. Operating means are mounted on the support chassis and comprises an insulated operating rod which extends through the hollow support insulator for operating the vacuum interrupter(s). A replaceable power fuse is provided. Means, including a stand-off insulator and fuse connectors are provided to mount the switch in parallel physical relationship with the hollow support insulator and to electrically connect the fuse in series circuit with the vacuum interrupter(s). In one embodiment, a single vacuum interrupter is provided and it is disposed in parallel physical relationship with the hollow support insulator. In other embodiments, a plurality of vacuum interrupters are provided which are transversely disposed with respect to the hollow support insulator. In one of the other embodiments, one of the vacuum interrupters is physically located within the stand-off insulator.

摘要： An electrical connector having first and second sections which are urged into assembled relation about a shielded cable to be tapped. A sharp metallic spike in one of the sections pierces the cable insulation and contacts the cable conductor at a point where the cable has been prepared by removing a longitudinal section of its ground shield. The first and second sections each have a metallic shell which cooperates to terminate the cable shield with stress cone-type terminations, and each have a resilient solid insulation which cooperates to surround the cable and provide an air and moisture seal. The metallic spike is adapted for connection to an external electrical circuit, which may include protective fuse apparatus disposed on one of the sections of the connector.
