    摘要: A subscriber can dynamically provision, i.e., assign desired characteristics to any "target station", which is an active phone accessible to a telecommunications network. A call thereafter originated from the target station (including a pay phone or a mobile phone) then can use customized features (for example, speed calling, conferencing, account code dialing) and take advantage of special corporate billing arrangements (for example, SDN, WATS and MEGACOM). The identity of the target station with respect to the communications network (e.g., the Automatic Number Identification (ANI) of the station) is not changed. Initially, a service profile is created and stored for each subscriber, containing information describing desired features and billing options. Thereafter, the characteristics of a particular target station are changed by an activation process that can be initiated from any location, whereby the ANI associated with the target station is entered into the ANI trigger table in an intelligent switch on which that station is homed, and the service profile is loaded into a database. When a call is originated in the target station, information in the database is applied to the switch to provide the desired characteristics.

    摘要: An integrated accounting system is applied to a network structure which includes a telephone network and a packet network. A packet exchange in the packet network includes a circuit for measuring a communication data quantity within the packet network during a communication between a first terminal which has an advance payment function and is connected to a telephone exchange in the telephone network and a second terminal which is a packet mode terminal connected to the packet exchange. The packet exchange also includes a circuit for sending a control signal to a gate way which couples the telephone exchange and the packet exchange every time a measured communication data quantity reaches a predetermined accounting unit of the telephone network, and a circuit for initially sending the control signal when a call out from the first terminal is detected. The telephone exchange includes a circuit for generating a control signal for every predetermined acocunting unit which is dependent on a duration and distance of a communication within the telephone network, a circuit for sending the control signal generated therein and the control signal received from the gate way to the first terminal, and a circuit for initially sending the control signal when a call out from the first terminal is detected. The first terminal collects an amount of money responsive to the control signal received from the telephone exchange.

    摘要: There is provided a telephone call monitoring, metering and selection device, the purpose of which is to select the lowest-cost way to make a call from one point to another point. The user will program the possible carriers and rates from a standard telephone and the user will enter the time, date, taxes and other information after plugging in the unit. After selecting the destination phone number, the device will show the rates of all possible carriers and then allow the user to choose or select a desired carrier. Because carriers do not have the same quality, the low-cost carrier may not always be the carrier the user wants to select. The unit will display all carrier rates on a one minute call, five minute call, ten minute call and the like. The device will show the user on a real time basis what the calls may cost. The costing feature will apply to local and long distance calls. Also, the device can be programmed to keep a total of what the calls have been from a beginning of a billing cycle and previous billing cycles.

    摘要: The invention includes a first switch and a second switch serially connected between a telephone network line and a local telephone line which can be selectively connected to alternately either an auto answer modem or a human answer telephone set. A control register is associated with the local telephone line, having data contents representing whether the local telephone line is connected to the auto answer modem or alternately to the human answer telephone set. A billing delay element has an output connected to a control input of the first switch, for delaying the closure of the first switch for a predetermined interval after an answer tone is received over the telephone network line when the control register, which is connected to the control input of the first switch, indicates that the auto answer modem is connected to the local telephone line. A tone overload detector has an input connected to the local telephone line and an output connected to the control input of the first switch, for interrupting the connection between the local telephone line and the telephone network line if tones generated on the local telephone line have a voltage greater than a predetermined amplitude when the control register, indicates that the auto answer modem is connected to the local telephone line. The control register controls the closure of the first switch when the contents of the register indicate that the local telephone line is connected to the human answer telephone set. In this manner, either the auto answer data operations or alternately the human voice signals can be selectively transmitted.
