    摘要: A system and method for reconfiguring a telecommunications network comprising a plurality of network elements is disclosed. The reconfiguration process begins by identifying a new configuration for the telecommunications network. Next, the process stores the new configuration with the old configuration for the telecommunications network. The system then identifies new connection information associated with the new configuration. The system then downloads the new connection information to the plurality of network elements. After the connection information has been downloaded, the connection information is stored with the old connection information at the plurality of network elements. Next, a message is broadcast to the plurality of network elements to activate the new configuration and deactivate the old configuration. The activation of the new connection information stored by the plurality of network elements occurs substantially simultaneously.

    摘要: A telecommunications switching node that includes at least one resource interface card which serves as an interface for connection to external call processing resources. The interface card communicates with the line cards in the switching node directly over the system buses, i.e. without passing through the CPU\matrix card and it uses two line card ports to connect to all external resources. The resource interface card also communicates with line cards that are connected to the system buses in other switching nodes in an expanded switching network. Its resources are thus available to ports in the other nodes when those nodes have available ports that are not occupied with other tasks. For communications with the latter ports, the resource interface card transmits information through the CPU/matrix cards on its switching node and on the nodes where the communicating ports reside. Thus for communications with ports on its switching node, the interface card receives information on the incoming bus and transmits it on the outgoing bus and for communications with ports on other nodes it receives information on the outgoing bus and transmits it on the incoming bus.

    摘要: Whenever a subscriber associated with a plurality of subscriber features receives or originates a call, an application module associated with the serving local exchange links into the established call. The application module thereinafter intercepts all incoming calls towards that subscriber and transmits control data over the existing call connection to the subscriber terminal informing it of the new incoming call. The control data are transmitted over the existing call connection using out-of-band voice frequencies or during silent portions of the speech connection. Over the same existing call connection, the application module receives an instruction from the subscriber terminal for providing a particular terminating call treatment for this incoming call. The application module then provides the instructed terminating call treatment as instructed by the subscriber. Such a treatment may include call forwarding to a third subscriber, the enablement of call waiting, forwarding of the call to a voice mail, and similar subscriber services.
