The multilayers comprise layers that contain one or more cations and one or more charge-dynamic anionic polymers. Charge-dynamic anionic polymers contain side chains having removable functional groups. Removal of the functional groups results in a change in the net change in the charge of the polymer which can disrupt interactions between cations and the anionic polymers and facilitate release of cations.

The acid scavenging agent may be also a pharmaceutical agent, for example an antiproliferative agent, coronary vasodilator agent and/or a bronchodilator. Preferably the acid scavenging agent is dipyridamole and/or mopidamol. The invention also provides a method of preparing a biodegradable material for use in the stent of the invention comprising: (i) preparing a formulation of the biodegradable material and the acid scavenging agent; (ii) heating the formulation to melt the biodegradable material and the acid scavenging agent so as to dissolve the agent in the material; and (iii) collecting and cooling the formulation of step (ii).

A pharmaceutical composition for external use which is an organogel containing a fatty acid ester and a glycerolglycerin fatty acid ester, in particular, a novel transdermally absorbable pharmaceutical composition for external use which has a drug such as non-narcotic analgesics as an active ingredient made in organogel form containing a drug such as non-narcotic analgesics as an active ingredient, a fatty acid ester and a glycerolglycerin fatty acid ester, and a method for producing the composition. The pharmaceutical composition significantly improves skin permeability of drugs such as non-narcotic analgesics and allows a sufficient amount of drug to permeate the skin sustainably. Moreover, since the pharmaceutical composition is in organogel form, it can be easily applied to a preparation in practice. In addition, the pharmaceutical composition can provide efficient use and the like of drugs due to a high drug release rate and therefore is highly useful.

The hydrogel is thermo-responsive at a physiological temperature, and can include, incorporate, or encapsulate a treatment agent, such as a drug composition, a biomolecule, and/or a nanoparticle. The hydrogel is useful in delivering the treatment agent. The hydrogel is in a first physicochemical state for administration to a mammal. The hydrogel is thermo-responsive at a physiological temperature of the mammal, and changes to a second physicochemical state that is more solid than the first physicochemical state. In the second physicochemical state the thermo-responsive hydrogel releases the treatment agent.
