    摘要: A telescopic steering column assembly comprising an upper shroud portion and a lower shroud portion is supported by the shroud portions through a support bearing assembly that acts between an upper portion of the telescopic steering shaft and a lower portion of the shroud that move relative to one another axially during telescopic adjustment, in which the support bearing assembly comprises: a set of bearings elements, a bearing cage comprising a sleeve that is located between an outer face of the upper shaft and an inner face of the lower shroud portion and is free to move axially relative to one of the upper shaft and the lower shroud, the cage including pockets that extend through the sleeve, each pocket loosely locating a bearing element such that a portion of the bearing element extends through the cage to engage with a first bearing race surface defined by one of the upper shaft and the shroud, an annular bearing race having a tapered second bearing race surface that engages the bearing elements located between the cage and the upper shaft or the cage and the lower shroud so that the annular bearing race is on the opposite side of the cage to the first bearing surface, and a biasing means which applies an axially directed thrust to the bearing elements to force them into engagement with the second bearing surface of the annular bearing race the thrust being reacted by the second bearing surface.

    摘要: A modular ball bearing retaining cage and a slide guide employing such a cage are disclosed. The cage includes a bridge part having opposed end parts spaced by a mid-section and module strips that are connected to the end parts. Each module strip includes one or more guide strip modules. At least some of the guide strip modules include ball bearings disposed in openings provided in respective guide strip modules. The end parts and the guide strip modules have cooperative coupling elements that permit coupling therebetween. The module strips are disposed in guide tracks defined by walls of inner and outer profiles of the slide guide and the ball bearings run within the guide tracks to allow extension of the inner profile with respect to the outer profile. Stop modules may be coupled to the module strips via coupling elements to limit relative travel of the profiles.

The wheel rolling bearing unit according to the present invention is equipped with an inner shaft; an outer ring disposed concentrically on the outer peripheral side of the inner shaft; a plurality of balls disposed between these; and a pair of cages for retaining the balls in the circumferential direction. On the inner peripheral surface of each of the pair of cages, a concave section being dented to the outside in the radial direction to hold grease is formed in the range from the axial outside end section to the inside end section.

The subassemblies both include a plurality of rolling elements and a cage. The cages each include a ring and a plurality of axial projections having axial free ends. The free ends of the cages in the first and second subassemblies face each other. Rolling element retaining pockets are defined between adjacent pairs of projections in the cages. The projections include pairs of lugs that, together with a partially spherical retaining surface provided between the projections of each of the pockets, contact and retain the rolling elements in the pockets.

    摘要: A zero clearance bearing assembly comprising a housing defining a generally cylindrical bearing chamber with a pair of ball bearing units disposed therein. One unit is adjacent an axial thrust reaction surface of frusto-conical configuration and a shoulder on an associated shaft urges the unit into engagement with the surface. The other unit is press fit on the shaft and also has a shaft shoulder urging it toward the thrust surface. An air impeller on the shaft urges the same toward the other bearing unit and the thrust unit reacts to both the impeller load and an axial preload spring engaging the other bearing unit. One or both of the bearing units is provided with an improved radial preload device comprising a spring and a pair of circumaxially spaced reaction surfaces opposing the same.
