    摘要: An apparatus for pumping fluid such as an integral pump/motor is provided. A housing having an inlet and an outlet has a rotatable assembly including an impeller located within and adapted to rotate within the housing to move fluid through the housing from the inlet to the outlet. Secured to the exterior of the housing is a stationary assembly for applying an electromagnetic field through the housing to and around the impeller to rotate the impeller and thereby to cause it to move fluid through the housing.The apparatus is for use in a cooling system, such as a cooling system of an automobile engine, to pump fluid through the cooling system. A temperature sensor is provided for sensing the temperature of the fluid within the cooling system. An electronic control, responsive to the temperature sensor, supplies electrical power to stationary assembly.Also, a method of circulating fluid within a system, such as a cooling system of an automobile engine, is disclosed. An electromagnetic field is applied through a housing to and around a rotatable assembly including an impellar located in the housing thereby to axially rotate the impeller and cause it to move fluid through the housing.

    摘要: A pellet dispenser unit in which a container of pellets can be attached to a motor and rotor assembly while the container is in an upright position. After attachment with the container, the container is inverted and the motor and rotor with the container are placed in a housing member from which the pellets are dispensed. The motor is electrically connected automatically when the motor and rotor assembly is placed in the housing member. In a preferred manner, plastic foam is placed in a housing for the motor and rotor to protect the motor as well as a circuit board from any corrosive fumes. The motor and rotor assembly are placed in a housing which is constructed so as to be easily handled by one hand for ease of attachment to the container when the container is in an upright position and the motor and rotor assembly inverted.

    摘要: An electromotor, in particular a drive motor for a barrel or container pump, having an outwardly encapsuled motor housing made of a material having good heat conducting characteristics, such as aluminium. The motor housing is provided on its outer side with a shield of an electrically non-conducting material. The shield is surrounded on its outer side with a mantle which forms, with the housing middle portion, a through-stream gap for the passage of cooling air. This outer mantle includes a pair of housing caps, which overlap the end-support shields of the motor housing, and between which housing caps there extends the mantle which shields the outer surface of the housing middle portion by forming the through-stream gap for the passage of cooling air. The outer shielding of the entire motor housing prevents contact with metallic parts and thereby current conducting parts of the motor by a person servicing the device.

    摘要: In order to provide a fastener sealing system that is operable in an environment of high ambient temperature, while at the same time utilizing seals that are made of materials that are ordinarily not capable of withstanding such high ambient temperature, the system includes a boss integrally associated with a housing defining a cooled interior chamber. The boss has a fastener-receiving opening formed by a bore and a counterbore defining an inwardly projecting shoulder therebetween. In the vicinity of the inwardly projecting shoulder, the boss is exposed to cooling within the cooled interior chamber, and a fastener is provided having a shank portion with a first diameter substantially the same as the diameter of the bore in the boss along a portion of the length thereof and a second diameter substantially the same as the diameter of the counterbore in the boss along the remainder of the length thereof. The fastener is releasably retained within the cooled interior chamber defined by the housing. The system also includes a resilient seal adapted to receive the shank portion of the fastener so as to be located in or near engagement with the inwardly projecting shoulder when the fastener is releasably retained within the cooled interior chamber. With this arrangement, the resilient seal is isolated from the high ambient temperature at a point where the boss is exposed to cooling within the cooled interior chamber in a manner facilitating the utilization of conventional seal materials.

    摘要: An electric motor has a ferrous core extending along, rotatable about, and centered on an axis. This core is formed with axial slots and has opposite end edges centered on the axis. A winding extends along the slots of the core and has opposite axial ends extending axially beyond the core. A fan on the core circulates air axially over the core and winding. Respective deflector cages on the winding ends each include an inner ring, an outer ring fitted over the respective end edge of the core, and a plurality of ribs extending axially and radially between the rings and projecting generally axially from the respective winding end. The ribs are spaced apart on the respective winding end such that the winding end is exposed between the ribs. Thus on rotation of the rotor, particles blown by the fan are deflected by the ribs before they engage the winding ends.
