A centrifugal pump system having an impeller rotating with first and second magnetic structures on opposite surfaces. A levitation magnetic structure is disposed at a first end of a pump housing having a levitating magnetic field for axially attracting the first magnetic structure. A multiphase magnetic stator at a second end of the pump housing generates a rotating magnetic field for axially and rotationally attracting the second magnetic structure. A commutator circuit provides a plurality of phase voltages to the stator. A sensing circuit determines respective phase currents. A controller calculates successive commanded values for the phase voltages in response to the determined phase currents and a variable commutation angle. The angle is selected to correspond to an axial attractive force of the stator that maintains a levitation of the impeller at a centered position within the pumping chamber.

The method for improving the stiffness of the stationary shaft includes axially inserting a shaft metal rear support of the metal structural of a motor rear casing of a canned motor into the inner side of a rotor yoke of an inner rotor of the canned motor, tightly attaching the shaft metal rear support to a rear shaft seat for improving the stiffness of the stationary shaft by longer hold length, and for shortening an arm length of the composite force. The monitor device, used for detecting the wear of a bearing for enhancing the reliability and satisfying the driving requirement, is installed in the ring slot to be protected by the rear shaft seat.

A non-magnetic partition separates the inductive sensor from the side chamber.

Methods and systems for monitoring a variable-speed pump system to detect a blockage condition. A value indicative of pump performance is sensed and a pump load coefficient is calculated. The value of the pump load coefficient does not change substantially due to changes in pump speed and is indicative of a blockage of a drain in a liquid holding tank. A blockage of the drain is detected based at least in part on the calculated pump load coefficient and the operation of the pump is adjusted based on the detected blockage.
