    Abstract: A spark plug includes a tip extending in a first direction and an electrode base metal having an extending portion extending in the first direction and connected to the tip through a fusion zone. In a section taken along the first direction and containing a center axis of the tip, in a case where two ends of the interface between the extending portion and the fusion zone are located at the same position with respect to the first direction, the linear distance between the ends is denoted by A, or, in a case where one end is located forward of the other end, the distance from the one end to an intersection between a straight line passing the one end and extending perpendicularly to the center axis and the outline of the fusion zone is denoted by A. The interface length B satisfies a relational expression B/A≥1.2.

    Abstract: A particulate detection apparatus for controlling a particulate sensor which detects the amount of particulates discharged from a filter for collecting particulates contained in exhaust gas. The particulate sensor includes a detection section configured to electrify particulates contained in exhaust gas so as to produce electrified particulates. The particulate detection apparatus includes a period judgment section, an output obtainment section and an anomaly judgment section. The period judgment section judges whether or not the present point in time is within a previously set anomaly determination period just after completing a filter regeneration process. The output obtainment section obtains a sensor output representing the result of detection by the particulate sensor in the case where the present point in time is judged to be within the anomaly determination period. The anomaly judgment section judges whether or not the particulate sensor is anomalous based on the sensitivity characteristic of the sensor output.

    Abstract: A sensor control apparatus for a gas sensor which detects a particular gas component contained in a gas under measurement. In the case where humidity detection is performed using an electromotive-force-type gas sensor, a sensor control apparatus changes a target voltage of an electromotive force cell to a second target voltage for humidity detection and then to a third target voltage which is lower than a first target voltage which is a target voltage used for detecting the concentration of the particular gas component. In the case where humidity detection is performed using a limiting-current-type gas sensor, the sensor control apparatus changes the voltage applied to a pump cell to a second application voltage for humidity detection and then to a third application voltage which is lower than a first application voltage which is an application voltage used for detecting the concentration of the particular gas component.

Resistance welding is performed by applying current between the first electrode and a second electrode, after the first surface of the electrode base material and the tip have been brought into contact with each other, the first electrode has been brought into contact with the second surface of the electrode base material, and the second electrode has been brought into contact with the tip.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a spark plug in which a first electrode has a tip joined to an electrode base through a fusion zone. In a cross section of the first electrode taken along a center axis, an interface of the fusion zone and a tip includes a first region, a second region and a base point present on at least one side of the cross section. The base point is a point connection of the first and second regions and is located farthest away from the imaginary straight line in the direction parallel to the center axis. The base point is positioned so as to satisfy a condition of 0.1≤X/W≤0.4 where W is a length of the interface in a direction perpendicular to the center axis; and X is a distance between the base point and the center axis.
