摘要: Deblocking filters are disclosed, where the nature of the filter is determined based upon the level of detail of a reconstructed video frame in the region in which the block boundary is located. One embodiment of the method of the invention includes identifying a boundary between two blocks of the reconstructed video frame, determining the level of detail of the reconstructed video frame in a region in which the block boundary is located, wherein the region includes pixels from multiple rows and multiple columns of the reconstructed video frame and includes at least one pixel that is not immediately adjacent the block boundary and selecting a filter to apply to predetermined pixels on either side of the block boundary based upon the determined level of detail.

摘要: Techniques are provided for the caching of content prior to the content being requested. A request for desired content may be received from a client application at a caching server. The request may also indicate additional content related to the desired content that may be subsequently requested by the client application. The indicated additional content (and the desired content, if not already cached) is retrieved from an origin server. The desired content is transmitted to the client application at the user device, and the additional content is cached at the caching server. Subsequently, a second request may be received from the client application that includes a request for the additional content. The additional content, which is now cached at the caching server, is served to the client application by the caching server in response to the second request (rather than being retrieved from the origin server).

摘要: Cloud data storage systems, methods, and techniques partition system data symbols into predefined-sized groups and then encode each group to form corresponding parity symbols, encode all data symbols into global redundant symbols, and store each symbol (data, parity, and redundant) in different failure domains in a manner that ensures independence of failures. In several implementations, the resultant cloud-encoded data features both data locality and ability to recover up to a predefined threshold tolerance of simultaneous erasures (unavailable data symbols) without any information loss. In addition, certain implementations also feature the placement of cloud-encoded data in domains (nodes or node groups) to provide similar locality and redundancy features simultaneous with the recovery of an entire domain of data that is unavailable due to software or hardware upgrades or failures.

摘要: A method for service inter-working and session channel establishment, an Inter-working Selection Function (ISF) module and device are provided. The method for service inter-working includes: receiving content which is corresponding to at least two media types and is sent by a calling party; and sending, according to the media types of the content, the content to Inter-Working Function (IWF) modules each corresponding to one media type, so that the IWF modules send the received content to a called party. In one aspect, a Converged IP Message (CPM) service may have sessions with a plurality of non-CPM services, thereby improving user experience; in another aspect, when the calling party intends to change the media types between the calling party and the called party with which the calling party has processed the service inter-working, it can be achieved just by directly changing the media types without disconnecting the session with the called party in advance.

摘要: An external computer hard drive and heat-dissipating base thereof is provided. The heat-dissipating base corresponds to the external hard drive. The external hard drive provides an easy structure for installing and replacing the external hard drive, and emits light from a housing on standby. The heat-dissipating base is a circular or rectangular base with a heat-dissipating fan disposed inside. The rotation speed of the heat-dissipating fan can be adjusted. When in use, the external hard drive is engaged on top of the heat-dissipating base and presented in a horizontal or vertical position so as to assist heat dissipation.

摘要: A liquid crystal polarization rotator device is able to rotate polarization fast enough to compensate polarization mode dispersion. The amount or degree of rotation is rapidly reconfigurable. The device includes a cavity filled with a nematic liquid crystal material. The cavity has electrodes on a first face, e.g., a first substrate, and electrodes on a second face, e.g., a second substrate, opposite the first face. The electrodes are shaped and positioned to produce an electric field across the cavity capable of rotating the alignment direction of the molecules of the liquid crystal material in the cavity. The electrodes are patterned on the ends of optical fibers. Aligning and positioning of the electrodes on the ends of the optical fibers with a predetermined spacing forms the cavity that is filled with the nematic liquid crystal material. The filled cavity is a so-called liquid crystal microcell wave plate. A control system is used to control the “rapid” rotation of the alignment direction of the molecules of the liquid crystal material. The control system receives data regarding the polarization of light entering or leaving the microcell and adjusts the direction of the electric field also using trigger pulses such as to rotate the nematic liquid crystal material molecules by a first predetermined number of degrees greater than a second desired number of degrees of rotation. Then, the trigger pulses for the electric field are stopped after the molecules have rotated by the second desired number of degrees. In this manner, the molecules rotate by the second desired number of degrees much faster than if a pulse had been applied with the same speed to rotate them by the second desired number of degrees in he first place.
