摘要： An ink jet recording apparatus comprises a carriage for causing a recording head provided with discharge ports for discharging ink to travel by mounting the recording head on the carriage, a wiping member for wiping the discharge port surface of the recording head having the discharge ports arranged therefor, and holding means for rotatively holding the wiping member in the traveling direction of the carriage at the time of the discharge port surface being wiped by means of the wiping member. With this arrangement, ink adhering to the leading end of the wiping member is prevented from flying and spreading to stain the recording area of a recording material, thus keeping the quality of printed images thereon.

摘要： In a recording apparatus, the size and the weight of the apparatus and the number of components are reduced, accumulated tolerance is reduced due to the decrease in the number of components, and the sheet feeding/discharging property, the conveying property, the adjustability of the distance between recording means and a sheet member, and the assembling capability of the apparatus are improved. The apparatus includes a first roller for conveying the sheet member toward a supporting surface, a second roller for grasping the sheet member together with the first roller, a third roller for discharging the sheet member from the supporting surface, and a fourth roller for grasping the sheet member together with the third roller. The apparatus also includes a first case including a carriage, the first roller and the third roller, and a second case including a platen, the second roller and the fourth roller. The second roller is elastically urged toward the first roller, and the fourth roller is elastically urged toward the third roller.

摘要： The present invention provides a recording apparatus comprising a supply means for supplying a sheet in a predetermined direction, a convey means for conveying the sheet supplied by the supply means in a predetermined direction, a recording means for recording an image on the sheet conveyed by the convey means, in response to image information, a reversible drive means for driving the supply means and the convey means, and a drive transmitting means for transmitting a driving force from the drive means to the supply means or the convey means, and wherein the drive transmitting means comprises a plurality of planetary gears as means for rotating the supply means only in a sheet supplying direction regardless of a rotational direction of the convey means, and the planetary gears are revolved around gears having different speed reduction ratios from the drive means as sun gears, respectively. The present invention also provides a sheet supplying apparatus and a drive transmitting mechanism used with such a recording apparatus.

摘要： Each of a detection sample object and a non-detection sample object is illuminated with S-polarization light, for instance. S-polarization light and P-polarization light reflected from each sample object are detected by different photodetecting elements. Glossiness values and light quantities of the detection and non-detection sample objects are judged based on detection outputs of the photodetecting elements, and a glossiness difference and a light quantity difference are calculated. An evaluation function having at least one of the glossiness and the light quantity as a variable is determined by using the glossiness difference and the light quantity difference. Thresholds for object discrimination are calculated based on evaluation function values of the detection and non-detection sample objects.

摘要： A frosting agent in which particulate silica suspends with high dispersibility without lowering the flow-out and formability of an aqueous polyurethane as a binder of frosting coating agent. Such a frosting agent for use in an aqueous polyurethane is obtained by adding 0.5-5.0 parts by weight of .gamma.-ureidopropyltriethoxysilane and 0.1 part by weight or more of water to 100 parts by weight of particulate silica and reacting said substances at a temperature of 15.degree.-100.degree. C. to modify the surface of said particulate silica. By this reaction, .gamma.-ureidopropylsilane liberated by hydrolysis of ethoxysilane groups reacts with acid hydroxy groups. Thus, the wettability and compatibility of the frosting agent with respect to aqueous polyurethane increases. This improves the dispersibility and the resistance to scuff of the coating.
