The porous silicon-containing carbon-based composite material of the present invention can be used as an electrode of a battery. Thereby, a battery which has an increased reversible capacity and stable charge and discharge cycle characteristics, and has a reduced loss of potential at the time of discharging lithium can be produced with a simple production process.
