Abstract:
A system and method is provided for generating a translingual parsing model and for using the model to machine translate a source language to a destination language. The system and method includes receiving a sentence in the source language, and with the translingual parsing model, searching among and statistically ranking candidate parses each having elements labeled with destination language words, syntactic labels, and role labels indicating relationships between the elements. A statistically high ranked parse is selected and rearranged using the syntactic and role labels, in accordance with word order conventions of the destination language to generate a translingual parse of the source language sentence.

A method of securing a flexible wrap (30) around a blood vessel (28). The wrap (30) being generally elongate and having first (30a) and second (30b) end portions. The method including the steps of 1. wrapping the flexible wrap around the blood vessel (28); 2. passing the first end (30a) of the wrap (30) through a buckle device (10) affixed substantially distally from the first end (30a) of the wrap (30); 3. adjusting the tension in the wrap (30) to a desired level by movement of the first end (30a) of the wrap (30) relative to the buckle device (10); 4. securing together adjacent parts of the wrap (30) substantially adjacent the blood vessel (28); and 5. removing the buckle device (10).

In an embodiment of the present invention there is provided a micro-electromechanical (MEMS) accelerometer, including a substrate, a first sensor and a second sensor. The first sensor is configured to measure an acceleration along a first axis parallel to a plane of the substrate. The second sensor is configured to measure an acceleration along an axis perpendicular to the plane of the substrate. The second sensor comprises a first beam, a second beam and a single support structure. The single support structure supports the first and second beams relative to the substrate, wherein the first and second beams circumscribe the first sensor.

Disclosed herein too is a method of manufacturing an antireflective viewing surface comprising electroforming a metal upon a first template to form an electroformed metal template; wherein the first template comprises a plurality of pores; disposing a layer of a polymeric resin on a viewing surface; pressing the electroformed metal template against the polymeric resin; and solidifying the polymeric resin.

A fluid compression system includes a compressor unit that directs a flow of compressed fluid to a first heat exchanger. A second heat exchanger receives a flow of coolant. A blower produces a flow of ambient air that passes through the first heat exchanger and the second heat exchanger so as to direct cooling air through both heat exchangers. A variable speed motor is coupled to the motor in addition to a control system to vary the motor speed between a low speed and a high speed.

The mesh network, according to at least one embodiment, includes a relay associated with each access point in the mesh network. Each relay is configured to support access interfaces and relay interfaces. The access interfaces are configured to communicate with mobile nodes, and the relay interfaces are configured to communicate with other relays. The mesh network further includes at least one gateway associated with the relays. The gateway is configured for connection to an external network. The gateway is also directly associated with at least one of the relays such that the gateway communicates with the relays via the directly associated relay. The gateway provides for communication between the external network and the relays.

An embodiment of the present invention is a technique to integrate data for a source synchronous protocol. A delay generator generates at least an integrating strobe from a data strobe synchronizing a data having a data window using the source synchronous protocol. A pulse generator generates a pulse from the at least integrating strobe. An integrating receiver integrates the data over an integration window defined by the pulse. The integration window is within the data window.

An implantable hearing aid transducer including a transducer housing, a driver, and an actuator movably connected to the transducer housing. The transducer driver includes at least one coil and one magnet. In one aspect of the present transducer, a seal is provided to seal transducer components that are located at a location other than at the movable connection between the actuator and the transducer housing. According to this aspect, the seal may be disposed around one of a magnet and a coil that is connectable to the actuator, to protect the same from body fluids. The other one of the magnet and the coil may include its own seal within the transducer housing.

A variable reluctance motor is provided having a linear relationship between an input current and an output force. According to one aspect of the invention, the motor comprises a stator, an armature, and at least one magnetic member to provide a biasing force on the armature. According to this characterization, the motor also includes a drive coil to generate an electromagnetic field in response to a current input. The electromagnetic field, in turn, moves the armature relative to the stator during motor operation.
