    摘要: A valve timing control apparatus comprises a rotary member drivingly connected to the crankshaft for rotation with rotation of the crankshaft, and a drive mechanism for transmitting rotation of the rotary member to the camshaft. The drive mechanism includes a piston member provided for reciprocation to rotate the camshaft with respect to the rotary member. The piston member has a pressure chamber formed therein. The piston member is urged resiliently in a first direction. The piston member is movable in a second direction opposite to the first direction in response to a pressure introduced into the pressure chamber. The valve timing control apparatus also includes first and second conduit. The first conduit has a first outlet for connection to the pressure chamber. The second conduit has a second outlet for connection to the pressure chamber. The second outlet is spaced away from the first outlet in the first direction of movement of the piston member. First and second command signals are produced according to engine operating conditions. A pressure is introduced through the first conduit in the presence of the first command signal. A pressure is introduced through the second conduit in the presence of the second command signal.

    摘要: A variable valve timing and lift system comprises a camshaft having a rotary cam and a valve operating (VO) cam, and a control rod having an integral portion. The integral portion in the form of an eccentric cam supports a rocker arm. The rotary cam is fixed to the camshaft. The VO cam is in contact with a valve lifter for a cylinder valve of an engine. A torsion spring winds about the camshaft to apply a bias to the VO cam. The rocker arm has a first arm cooperating with the rotary cam and a second arm cooperating with a projecting radial lever of the VO cam. Under the action of the torsion spring, the lever of the VO cam is held in engagement with the second arm of the rocker arm and the second arm of the rocker arm is held in engagement with the rotary cam.

    摘要: An cylinder valve controlling apparatus comprises a first rocker arm and a second rocker arm cooperating with a middle lift cam and a low lift cam, respectively, to active two cylinder valves arranged for each of the engine cylinders, respectively. The apparatus further comprises a free rocker arm cooperating with a high lift cam. During engine operation at low speeds, the first rocker arm activates one of the cylinder valves in accordance with the profile of the middle lift cam, while the second rocker arm activates the other cylinder valve in accordance with the profile of the low lift cam. During engine operation at middle speeds, a coupling including a first lever establish drive connection between the first and second rocker arms and thus the first and second rocker arms follow the profile of the middle cam. During engine operation at high speeds, with the first-mentioned coupling maintaining the drive connection, another coupling establishes drive connection between the free cam follower and the first rocker arm. Thus, the first and second rocker arms activate the corresponding cylinder valves in accordance with the profile of the high lift cam.

    摘要: A camshaft supported in an engine cylinder head structure has a low speed (lift) cam lobe and a high speed (lift) cam lobe. A rocker arm is supported by a hydraulic lash adjuster or a rocker shaft for pivotal motion and has a sub-rocker shaft and a pin. The rocker arm is drivingly engages the low lift cam lobe. A free cam follower is supported by the sub-rocker shaft and drivingly engages the high lift cam lobe. A latch lever supported by the pin has a latch position wherein one end portion of the latch lever is in locking engagement with the free cam follower and a latch release position wherein the one end portion of the latch lever is out of engagement with the free cam follower. A hydraulic piston received in bore is in driving engagement with the opposite end portion of the latch lever to urge the latch lever against a latch lever release spring towards the latch position thereof. Hydraulic fluid communication between the bore and a hydraulic fluid passage of the cylinder head structure is established through the hydraulic lash adjuster or the rocker shaft.

    摘要: An apparatus for actuating valves of an engine is disclosed. A cam shaft is supported by the engine and has at least one set of cams, e.g., two axially spaced low speed cams and a high speed cam between the low speed cams. A rocker shaft is supported by the engine. The rocker shaft supports a rocker arm for the valves. The rocker arm is driven by the low speed cams. The rocker arm has a sub-rocker shaft and a pin. A free cam follower is supported by the sub-rocker shaft and driven by the high speed cam. The apparatus comprises a mechanism including a lever supported by the pin of the rocker arm. The lever has a first position wherein the lever and the free cam follower are joined for attaining unitary motion of the free cam follower with the rocker arm. The lever has a second position wherein the lever and the free cam follower are separated for allowing relative motion of the free cam follower with respect to the rocker arm. The mechanism includes a hydraulic piston for urging the lever to the first position.

    摘要: A valve timing control system of an internal combustion engine having a camshaft for operating intake or exhaust valves. The valve timing control system is comprised of a cylindrical sprocket driven through a timing chain by a crankshaft of the engine. An arm is fixed to one end of the camshaft and located inside the sprocket in a manner to extend generally diametrically. An annular piston is movably disposed coaxially with the camshaft and inside the sprocket to define an oil pressure chamber. The piston is moved axially by controlling the oil pressure to be supplied to the oil pressure chamber, in accordance with an engine operating condition. At least three sliders are supported to the piston to move with the piston. Each slider has an inclined face which is in slidable contact with a side face of the arm. This inclined surface is adapted to push the arm to rotate around the axis of the camshaft when each slider is moved axially upon the axial movement of the piston. The rotation of the arm causes the camshaft to make its relative rotational movement to the driven sprocket, thereby changing the opening and closing timings of the intake or/and exhaust valves.
