    摘要: In a cylinder lubrication system for a two-stroke engine, a plurality of lubricating oil supply openings (78) open out in the inner circumferential surface of the cylinder (42) at a point lower than a top ring (22b) of a piston (22) located at a bottom dead center. The lubricating oil supply openings are configured to provide a larger amount of lubricating oil in the thrust side and anti-thrust side of the cylinder than in a remaining part of the cylinder. Thereby, the consumption of lubricating oil and the emission of undesired substances can be minimized while providing an optimum lubrication of the sliding part between the piston and the cylinder.

    摘要: Devices and related methods are disclosed that generally involve the selective deactivation of one or more engine valves. In one embodiment, a split-cycle internal combustion engine is provided in which a high-speed trigger valve is used to fill and drain a hydraulic tappet that forms part of a lost-motion system of an engine valve. A spool valve can be used to selectively disconnect the tappet from the trigger valve, thereby deactivating the associated engine valve (i.e., preventing the engine valve from opening). The devices and methods disclosed herein also have application in conventional internal combustion engines and can be used with inwardly-opening and/or outwardly-opening valves.

    摘要: The cam follower has a roller, which is movable, between a first axial position and a second axial position and which alternately transmits elevations, which are different from one another. The cam has a cylinder-piston unit, which has a pressure medium space for moving the roller from the first axial position into the second axial position, and a spring means for moving the roller from the second axial position into the first axial position. The piston of the cylinder-piston unit is the roller and the roller has an end wall, which delimits the pressure medium space, and an annular collar which extends from said end wall and whose outer lateral surface serves as a cam pick-off surface. The inner lateral surface of the annular collar surrounds an outer section of the cylinder of the cylinder-piston unit.

    摘要: A rotary piston machine has a housing in which are arranged at least two pistons which are able to revolve together in the housing about an axis of rotation which is fixed with respect to the housing, the pistons being mounted slidingly in a piston cage which is mounted in the housing and revolves together with the pistons about the axis of rotation, the two pistons executing mutually opposing reciprocating motions while revolving about the axis of rotation in order alternately to increase and decrease the volume of a working chamber defined by end faces oriented towards one another of the two pistons and by the piston cage, the axis of rotation passing through the working chamber and the piston cage having a gas exchange opening for admitting and discharging gas to and from the working chamber. The gas exchange opening is arranged on the axis of rotation and a closing member is arranged in the gas exchange opening, which is connected to the piston cage in a rotationally fixed manner with respect to the axis of rotation and is axially movable relative to the piston cage in the direction of the axis of rotation in order to open and close the gas exchange opening, there being present a control mechanism for the closing member which derives the axial motion of the closing member from the rotary motion of the closing member about the axis of rotation.
