    摘要: An intermittent suction regulator is disclosed operating from a vacuum system and is used to provide a plurality of pneumatic output signals to a positive pulse device for returning fluids removed from a patient during drainage thereof to clear the removal passageways. The suction regulator or control unit provides two (2) timed output signals, from one (1) intermittent vacuum to atmospheric pressure input. One output signal continually switches from a regulated vacuum signal to an atmospheric pressure signal while the other output signal switches from providing an unregulated vacuum signal to an atmospheric pressure signal. The signals are timed such that both are initially set to provide vacuum signals simultaneously, however there is a predetermined time delay between the time the regulated vacuum output signal switches from vacuum to atmospheric and when the unregulated vacuum output signal switches from vacuum to atmospheric. Both output signals, however, again switch back to their vacuum signals simultaneously after a predetermined cycle time.

    摘要: A compact, lightweight, variable rate suction and collection device is provided for the withdrawal and collection of fluid from a patient. The device includes a collection receptacle which is connected to the patient and to a pump through suction inlet, so that suction is created within the collection receptacle whereby fluids from the patient are drawn into the receptacle. A piezoelectric transducer or diaphragm pressure switch senses the suction created while a suction level selector permits an operator to select a given suction pressure within a predetermined range. A control circuit, responsive to the piezoelectric transducer or switch and to the suction level selector, controls the suction created within the receptacle. Among other features, the control circuit provides a selected suction pressure as well as controls delivery of fractional power to the pump motor to reduce noise. The entire unit including the pump and collection receptacle may be located within a carrying case so that the unit can be worn by a patient or hung at a patient's bedside.

    摘要: A pneumatically operated intraocular surgery apparatus which is of very light weight and small size, the cutting device inserted into the eye consisting of concentric tubes having a diameter of 1 mm. or less. Pneumatic means is provided to the device for moving one of the tubes with respect to the other at a slow or fast rate. Said pneumatic means includes a bellows provided with suction so that vitreous sucked into one of the tubes is sheared off by the sharp end of the other tube and the severed vitreous is sucked into a calibrated cylinder. An adjustable bleeder valve is provided in the vacuum line to eliminate residual suction on the interior of the eye when the cutting action is at rest.

    摘要: An apparatus for biomimetic expression of breast milk can comprise a breast interface having an expandable membrane configured to mimic the geometry of an infant's mouth. Various regions of the expandable membrane may be configured to simulate the structure and/or function of various parts of an infant's mouth. The expandable membrane may comprise one or more of a distal sealing region configured to simulate the lips, a superior region configured to simulate the hard palate, an inferior protruding region configured to simulate the gums, an intermediate curved region configured to simulate the tongue, and one or more internal expansion regions configured to simulate the soft palate and the throat. The expandable membrane may have a varying thickness throughout the one or more various regions to enable movement of the regions similar to the movement of the corresponding regions of an infant's mouth during nursing.
