    Abstract: A filter component having a substantially rigid support core and a filter element. The core includes a projecting first anchoring rib and the filter element (which is substantially flat in a repose position) has first and second spaced end panels. At least the first end panel of the element is attached to the anchoring rib when the element is mounted on the component. Element-component attachment is, in one aspect, by panel-mounted hook-like devices which attach to the rib. Attachment devices may also be embodied as clip mechanisms or rivet-like fasteners. A retaining tab on the component platform fits into a tab notch on the filter element when the element is mounted on the component.

    Abstract: A prefilter for an air main filter of an internal combustion engine such as a two-stroke engine is configured as a filter ring with the engine being especially a two-stroke engine in a handheld work tool. The filter ring defines a flow directed essentially radially inward and the prefilter has a band-like configuration and is mounted for covering the outer surface of the main filter. The prefilter includes a screen held in a flexible frame and so permits a rapid exchange thereof and is easy to clean and does not restrict the air throughput. The frame carries a part of the closure device at each end thereof lying in the longitudinal direction.

    Abstract: Filter pads, which are made inherently stable by binders and by removal of the binders can be converted in packings to be maintained under substantially constant surface pressure between rigid filter brackets, are produced first as molded bodies from a suspension of filter aids in liquid by depositing granular, fibrous, or fiber-containing filter aids or mixtures of those filter aids in a casting mold, there being used high rates of flow while avoiding turbulences, and adding binders to the suspension so that the molded body can be stabilized by activation of the binder while drying. It is possible in this process also to manufacture multi-layered filter pads, it having been surprisingly found in those multi-layered filter pads that the layer assembly is kept intact during the filtration even in the filter packing that no longer contains binders. The filter pads or the filter packings produced therefrom according to the invention can, when used, and after reflushing and regeneration operations, finally be utilized, after being replaced, as filter aids in the deposit filtration process.

    Abstract: The disclosure concerns a hollow cylindrical filter cartridge composed of an annular pleated filter medium surrounding a central perforated plastic tube, the ends of which cartridge and tube are embedded into plastic annular discs for closing the ends of the pleats of the filter media and providing an internal centrally threaded socket adjacent the inside of said perforated tube, which socket has an inner integrally projecting shoulder. Continuous outwardly threaded plastic nipples having a length of slightly more than twice the depth of said sockets to their shoulders provide connections between adjacent axially aligned cartridges which are sealed together by the abutment of the ends of said nipples against said shoulders. A plastic internally threaded cap having a depth greater than half the length of said nipples, may be threaded on the outer end of a nipple extending from a cartridge for closing that end. This cap has its rim clamped against the plastic disc directly opposite the end of the perforated tube for sealing that end of the cartridge. The opposite end of the cartridge or series of cartridges fromthe cap may have its outwardly extending nipple connected to a vacuum or suction source directly or through an adaptor, which connection also may be a support for that end of the cartridge or series of cartridges. One or more of these cartridges, usually two or three, may be placed in liquids in tanks, pressure vessels, irrigation ditches or ponds for filtering liquids, preferably water, including filtering water for swimming pools.
