摘要:
A watercraft, including; a mid section (2) and two side sections (3,4), whereby the mid section (2) has a seat (5) for a passenger and whereby the watercraft (1) has a steering mechanism. The watercraft (1) includes a front part (2) and a rear part, relative to a direction of travel of the watercraft (7), that are coupled together by means of a hinged coupling (8). The front part (2) of the watercraft (1) includes the mid section (2) of the watercraft (1), and the rear part (7) of the watercraft (1) includes the two side sections (3,4). The hinged coupling (8) forms part of the steering mechanism, such that as a result of a rotation of the front part (2) with respect to the rear part (7) of the watercraft (1) around the hinged coupling (8), the direction of travel of the watercraft (1) is changed.

Marine lift apparatus for raising and lowering vessels, platforms, and cargo are disclosed. A lift apparatus comprises a multi-component structure capable of movement, at least one flexible member, and at least one piston device. In some aspects, marine lift apparatus facilitates the level raising, lowering, and storing of vessels, platforms, and cargo. Lift apparatus mountable onto multi-hull vessels, such as catamarans, configured for lifting a combination swim and dinghy platform are also disclosed.

The present invention relates to a semi-submersible vessel comprising at least one lower hull section (22) which defines a first water displacing volume; a support structure (24) connected to the at least one lower hull section (22) and extending upward from the at least one lower hull section, wherein the support structure (24) has a waterplane area which is substantially smaller than the waterplane area of the at least one lower hull section; a deck structure (26) connected to the support structure (24), wherein the deck structure (26) is provided at a distance above the at least one lower hull section (22); a ballast system for controllably varying the draft of the vessel such that at a first draft (30) the at least one lower hull section (22) may be provided at least in part above the water-line and at a second draft (28) the support structure may be provided at least partly below the water-line; wherein the assembly of said at least one lower hull section, said support structure and said deck structure comprises structural reinforcements, such that the vessel is sufficiently strong to substantially safely survive a storm at the first draft (30). The invention further relates to a method of operating such a semi-submersible vessel.

Marine lift apparatus for raising and lowering vessels, platforms, and cargo are disclosed. A lift apparatus comprises a base and at least one assembly. The assembly further comprises a shuttle configured for movement between first and second positions, a link arm connected to the shuttle, and a control link attached to the link arm, all configured to move the link arm between first and second positions. In some aspects, marine lift apparatus exhibit pantograph-like movement, facilitating the level raising, lowering, and storing vessels, platforms, and cargo. Lift apparatus mounted on to multi-hull vessel, such as catamarans, configured for lifting a combination swim and dinghy platform are also disclosed.

A system that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a water vehicle including a deck that accommodates a group of passengers above a waterline and an observation gondola accommodating the group of passengers below the waterline. The access between the observation gondola and the deck is provided by way of an aperture in a top of the observation gondola. The observation gondola includes a transparent floor and walls allowing the group of passengers to enjoy an underwater experience without exposure to the water and while maintaining an unobstructed panoramic view of the underwater environment. The underwater observation gondola can include a substantially open top, which may include a sun screen or weather protective cover. The open top exposes the observation gondola to fresh air, while alleviating any claustrophobic sensations as might otherwise be experienced by passengers during underwater observation. Other embodiments are disclosed.

The present invention involves an apparatus, namely a reef, used to transform ocean wave energy into preferred surfing waves. The reef is comprised of a hull having a substantially flat top surface with a vertically convex shape that preferably creates about a seventy degree tangential bow angle with the ocean surface. The bottom portion is tri-hull shaped and includes two side hulls and a center hull. The preferred embodiment is connected to a master vessel by control arms. The control arms can control the depth of the reef in water, thus controlling the wave characteristics. The control arms can also provide a ducting means for ballast pumps on the master vessel. In an alternative embodiment, the reef can be self-supporting in water. A single reef or a multiple reef configuration can be placed near shore to help prevent beach erosion by wave action, and or cause beach sand to accumulate. Several reefs can be connected for longer-lasting waves.

A hull is formed of a forward section, a rearward section and intermediate sections there between. The forward section is in a generally triangular configuration. The forward section has a forward-most point. The forward section has rearwardly extending sides. The rearward sections are formed of exterior and interior walls. A space is provided between the interior and exterior walls. The intermediate sections are formed in a generally triangular configuration. The intermediate section have a forward-most point. The intermediate sections have rearwardly extending interior walls and laterally spaced exterior walls. A saloon is above water level and is secured to the top and interior walls of the hull. The saloon has a front at the rearward end of the intermediate section. The saloon has a rear spaced forward of the end of the unitary hull.

Multihulled sailing vessels are provided wherein at least one hull, and preferably all hulls, are so shaped that there is a discontinuity in the keel line abaft the midship station of the hull, the rate of change of depth of the hull from bow to stern being different immediately abaft the discontinuity toward the stern.

A low-drag hull for high-speed displacement type water-craft is constructed with a constant-section keel-less midbody having a length equal to or greater than one-third of the waterline length of the hull, and with a run of less than one-sixth of the hull length. The balance of the hull comprises a slender entry defined by a linear basal ramp extending at the centerline for at least one-half of the length of the entry. The ramp slope is chosen in the range between 10:1 and 18:1. The parallel midbody is constructed with a full cross-section, the section coefficient being always greater than .785, and the ramped entry conforms, within the limits established by the need to fair in the bow and transition sections, to the sectional character of the midbody. The hull form shows a low wetted surface coefficient and sharply reduced wave-making resistance in the range between Froude numbers of 0.60 and 1.20.
