摘要: A watercraft, including; a mid section (2) and two side sections (3,4), whereby the mid section (2) has a seat (5) for a passenger and whereby the watercraft (1) has a steering mechanism. The watercraft (1) includes a front part (2) and a rear part, relative to a direction of travel of the watercraft (7), that are coupled together by means of a hinged coupling (8). The front part (2) of the watercraft (1) includes the mid section (2) of the watercraft (1), and the rear part (7) of the watercraft (1) includes the two side sections (3,4). The hinged coupling (8) forms part of the steering mechanism, such that as a result of a rotation of the front part (2) with respect to the rear part (7) of the watercraft (1) around the hinged coupling (8), the direction of travel of the watercraft (1) is changed.

摘要: A system that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a water vehicle including a deck that accommodates a group of passengers above a waterline and an observation gondola accommodating the group of passengers below the waterline. The access between the observation gondola and the deck is provided by way of an aperture in a top of the observation gondola. The observation gondola includes a transparent floor and walls allowing the group of passengers to enjoy an underwater experience without exposure to the water and while maintaining an unobstructed panoramic view of the underwater environment. The underwater observation gondola can include a substantially open top, which may include a sun screen or weather protective cover. The open top exposes the observation gondola to fresh air, while alleviating any claustrophobic sensations as might otherwise be experienced by passengers during underwater observation. Other embodiments are disclosed.

摘要: The present invention involves an apparatus, namely a reef, used to transform ocean wave energy into preferred surfing waves. The reef is comprised of a hull having a substantially flat top surface with a vertically convex shape that preferably creates about a seventy degree tangential bow angle with the ocean surface. The bottom portion is tri-hull shaped and includes two side hulls and a center hull. The preferred embodiment is connected to a master vessel by control arms. The control arms can control the depth of the reef in water, thus controlling the wave characteristics. The control arms can also provide a ducting means for ballast pumps on the master vessel. In an alternative embodiment, the reef can be self-supporting in water. A single reef or a multiple reef configuration can be placed near shore to help prevent beach erosion by wave action, and or cause beach sand to accumulate. Several reefs can be connected for longer-lasting waves.

摘要: A hull is formed of a forward section, a rearward section and intermediate sections there between. The forward section is in a generally triangular configuration. The forward section has a forward-most point. The forward section has rearwardly extending sides. The rearward sections are formed of exterior and interior walls. A space is provided between the interior and exterior walls. The intermediate sections are formed in a generally triangular configuration. The intermediate section have a forward-most point. The intermediate sections have rearwardly extending interior walls and laterally spaced exterior walls. A saloon is above water level and is secured to the top and interior walls of the hull. The saloon has a front at the rearward end of the intermediate section. The saloon has a rear spaced forward of the end of the unitary hull.

摘要: A low-drag hull for high-speed displacement type water-craft is constructed with a constant-section keel-less midbody having a length equal to or greater than one-third of the waterline length of the hull, and with a run of less than one-sixth of the hull length. The balance of the hull comprises a slender entry defined by a linear basal ramp extending at the centerline for at least one-half of the length of the entry. The ramp slope is chosen in the range between 10:1 and 18:1. The parallel midbody is constructed with a full cross-section, the section coefficient being always greater than .785, and the ramped entry conforms, within the limits established by the need to fair in the bow and transition sections, to the sectional character of the midbody. The hull form shows a low wetted surface coefficient and sharply reduced wave-making resistance in the range between Froude numbers of 0.60 and 1.20.
