    摘要: A thermoplastic composition comprising a poly(arylene ether), a polyamide, a compatibilizing agent, and a polyester ionomer exhibits reduced moisture absorption, improved paint adhesion, and improved stability. Use of the polyester ionomer allows use of lower amounts of conductive fillers. The compositions of the present invention comprise an amount of a stabilizer package effective to enhance the morphological stability of the thermoplastic composition wherein the stabilizer package comprises at least one phenolic species in combination with at one thioester species, at least one one organo-phosphite species, or at least one thioester species in combination with at least one organo-phosphite species.

    摘要: A poly(arylene ether)-polyolefin composition is prepared by melt-blending a poly (arylene ether), a poly(alkenyl aromatic) resin, a hydrogenated block copolymer of an alkenyl aromatic compound and a conjugated diene, and an unhydrogenated block copolymer of an alkenyl aromatic compound and a conjugated diene to form a first blend, and melt-blending the first blend and a polyolefin to form a second blend. Reinforcing fillers may, optionally, be added during formation of the second blend or in an additional step. Multiple mixing elements, low throughput, and high extruder rotations per minute may be used to achieve high energy mixing of the first and second blends. Compositions prepared by the method exhibit an improved balance of impact strength, stiffness, and heat resistance, as well as reduced variability of physical properties.

    摘要: A low molecular weight engineering thermoplastic polyurethane (ETPU) can be homogeneously melt blended with a polyarylene ether (PAE) to give a low viscosity melt processable blend, and subsequently cooled to form a heterogeneous dispersion of the ETPU in the PAE that has two Tgs, one that is close to the Tg of the pure ETPU, and one that is close to the Tg of the pure PAE. As such, the composite blend retains the properties of the polyarylene ether.
