    摘要: A magnetic head assembly for a video tape recorder includes a piezo-electric support, preferably constituted by a bi-morph leaf or leaves, supported at one end, for example, on a rotary portion of a tape guide drum, and a magnetic head mounted at the other end of the piezo-electric support, and the piezo-electric support has two pairs of first and second electrodes secured on opposed major surfaces, respectively, of the support and extending in the direction between the ends of the support, that is, in the lengthwise direction of the latter, with such pairs of electrodes being parallel and spaced from each other in the direction across the support. Thus, by applying suitable control voltages between the first and second electrodes of the two pairs thereof, the piezo-electric support can be made to flex or bend longitudinally and/or torsionally, for example, for correcting tracking erros and/or for varying the azimuth angle, respectively, of the mounted head.

    摘要: A fully manually adjustable embodiment has a base member fastened to and spaced from a tape deck frame. Two identical mounting block members are provided, one for a recording head and one for a reproducing head. A rear portion of each mounting block member is positioned in the space between the base member and the tape deck frame. Three balls, loosely retained in cylindrical bores in the bottom face of the base member, are seated in spherical recesses in the top face of each mounting block member. An adjusting screw, threadedly engaged with the base member, extends into each cylindrical bore, engaging the corresponding ball. Tension springs are connected between pins in the base member and each mounting block member to draw them toward one another and thereby engage the balls between the adjusting screws and the spherical recesses. Two of the balls on each mounting block member are located along a central axis of the head to establish an azimuth axis. The third ball is offset from the azimuth axis and establishes a zenith axis extending at right angles to the azimuth axis midway between the first two balls. The three adjustment screws for the three balls on each mounting block member provide optimum manual adjustment of azimuth and zenith; and they provide ready centering adjustment of the head relative to the tape. Another embodiment, for automatic motorized azimuth adjustment, substitutes a motor-driven universally pivotal connection for the third ball and its associated adjusting screw.

    摘要: An assembly for adjusting the azimuth (rotational) orientation of a magnetic tape head with respect to the chassis of a tape player is disclosed. A planar portion of a first plate is welded to the top side of a tape head and an adjustment screw is threaded through a bent portion of this plate. A planar portion of a resilient second plate is bonded to the bottom side of the tape head and a hollow cylindrical member is mounted to a bent portion of the second plate such that the resiliency of the second plate biases the hollow cylinder toward the adjustment screw. The hollow cylinder is slidably mounted on a guide post which is rigidly mounted to the chassis of a tape player. By means of the adjustment screw the angular disposition of the tape head with respect to the hollow cylinder, and thereby with respect to the tape player chassis, is altered.

The thin leaf is restrained against motion causing the transducer to move in any manner other than laterally to the track. In one embodiment, the leaf is a piezoelectric bender element, and in another embodiment the leaf is an electromagnetically responsive leaf element.

    摘要: Automatic azimuth control for a multi-track magnetic tape recorder-reproducer. This is illustrated as stereo apparatus having a recording head with right and left recording gaps through which signals are recorded respectively on right and left tracks on the tape, and a reproducing head with right and left reproducing gaps through which the signals on the right and left tracks are reproduced. An azimuth control circuit simultaneously starts the tape drive and actuates a tone generator to record test signals in phase on the tape tracks. The test signal reproductions from the respective right and left gaps of the reproducing head are fed to a phase comparator which senses their time relationship. An azimuth motor, responsive to this time relationship skews one of the heads relative to the tape in a direction to bring the test signal reproductions into phase with one another. When they are brought into phase, the azimuth control circuit is automatically deactuated and the tape drive is stopped. The test signals so recorded and reproduced may be a fixed frequency such as 3000 cycles per second, or may be variable, progressively sweeping from a low frequency such as 100 cycles per second to a high frequency such as 15,000 cycles per second, or may be a series of low-to-high frequency test signals such as 1000, 8000 and 15,000 Hz frequencies at successive discrete locations along the tape.
