An emission system for presenting visual image is disclosed. The emissive system typically contains first electrodes (90) deposited over and in contact with a substrate. One or more conjugated organic buffer layers (40) are then deposited over and in contact with the first electrodes, and second electrodes (22) are subsequently deposited over the conjugated organic buffer layers. The conjugated organic buffer layers (40) regulate current flow between the first electrodes (90) and the second electrodes (22). Either before or after the deposition of each conjugated organic buffer layer (40), but before the deposition of the second electrodes (22), conjugated organic deposits (34, 36, 38) are ink-jet printed such that they are in contact with at least one conjugated organic buffer layer. The conjugated organic deposits (34, 36, 38) help to generate an indicator when a voltage stimulus is applied across the first electrodes (90) and the second electrodes (22). Depending on the material of the conjugated organic deposits (34, 36, 38), the indicator may be luminescence, fluorescence, conductivity, or the like. A voltage source is used for selectively applying the voltage stimulus across the first electrodes (90) and the second electrodes (22).

An organic semiconducting material having bi-polar charge transport characteristics is described which may comprise the active layer of a field-effect transistor. The semiconducting material comprises a bi-polar polymeric film effective for hole or electron transport comprising a polymer having a conjugated framework with functional moieties capable of solvating ions or promoting ionic charge transport. The conjugated framework is selected from at least one of thiophene, pyrrole, benzene, naphthalene, antrhacene, and antrhacene-dione, and the functional moieties are selected from (i) functional side groups comprising salts of carboxylic acid and sulfonic acid and (ii) functional sites selected from heteroatoms having electron lone pairs comprising sulfur, nitrogen, and oxygen. The field-effect mobility of the bi-polar polymeric film is at least 10−3 cm2/Vs when operating as an n-type or p-type device.

摘要:
Organic luminescent ink (L-ink) is disclosed for use in printing thin films of organic luminescent material. The L-ink is particularly useful in fabricating organic optoelectronic devices, e.g. organic luminescent devices. The L-ink contains at least one organic luminescent material mixed with a solvent and other functional additives to provide the necessary optical, electronic and morphological properties for light-emitting devices (LEDs). The additives play an important role either for enhanced thin film printing or for better performance of the optoelectronic device. The functional additives may be chemically bound to the luminescent compounds or polymers. Luminescent organic compounds, oligomers, or polymers with relatively low solution viscosity, good thin film formability, and good charge transporting properties, are preferred. The L-inks can be cross-linked under certain conditions to enhance thin film properties. The L-ink can be used in various printing methods, such as screen printing, stamp printing, and preferably ink-jet printing (including bubble-jet printing).
