Abstract: An Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system for a vehicle is disclosed. An electronic control unit (ECU) is programmed to reduce vehicle lateral skidding by reducing differences between an intended vehicle direction and/or yaw rate and an actual vehicle direction and/or yaw rate by applying modifications to operation of the vehicle brakes and/or throttle. The ESC system receives inputs from wheel speed sensors, a steering wheel position sensor, a yaw rate sensor and a lateral acceleration sensor. The ESC system also receives input that indicates at least a property of the road upon which the vehicle is located, wherein the road upon which the vehicle is located is determined from a positioning system that uses a map database and the property is determined from the map database. The ESC system incorporates the road property information in determining when and/or how to modify operation of the vehicle to reduce vehicle skidding.

Abstract: This driving assist apparatus for a vehicle sets target wheel speed of an inside rear wheel in turning to substantially zero when a state of a center differential apparatus is a locked state in a case where the vehicle is turned in an extremely low speed traveling control. Further, the apparatus sets target wheel speed of each of wheels other than the inside rear wheel in turning such that a mean value of target wheel speeds of front wheels is equal to a mean value of target wheel speeds of rear wheels and the mean value of target wheel speeds of front wheels is equal to target vehicle body speed. Furthermore, the apparatus adjusts driving force and braking force such that wheel speed of each of the wheels becomes equal to the target wheel speed set for each of the wheels.

Abstract: A vehicle system includes a drive source configured to generate torque for driving a vehicle, wheels including rear wheels that are primary driving wheels and front wheels that are auxiliary driving wheels, a torque distribution mechanism configured to distribute the torque of the drive source to the front wheels and the rear wheels, a steering wheel configured to be operated by a driver, and a controller configured to control at least the torque distribution mechanism. When the steering wheel is steered in reverse and a yaw rate difference related value related to a difference between a target yaw rate to be generated on the vehicle according to the steering of the steering wheel and an actual yaw rate actually generated on the vehicle is greater than or equal to a first predetermined value, the controller controls the torque distribution mechanism to reduce the torque distributed to the rear wheels.

Abstract: A system for detecting a vehicular collision (i) receives occupant data from at least one internal sensor; (ii) receives external data from at least one external sensor; (iii) determines positional information for at least one occupant of a vehicle; and (iv) generates a virtual reconstruction of the vehicle collision. The virtual reconstruction indicates a severity of vehicle damage and a severity of injury to the at least one occupant caused by the vehicle collision. The system may also utilized vehicle occupant positional data, and internal and external sensor data to detect potential imminent vehicle collisions, take corrective actions, automatically engage autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle systems, and/or perform at least one action to reduce a severity of a potential injury.

Abstract: A vehicle has first and second wheels arranged in a longitudinal direction. In vehicle travel control, a control device calculates a control amount based on a parameter detected by a sensor and controls vehicle travel in accordance with the control amount. Modes of the vehicle travel control include first and second modes. In the first mode, a forward direction is from the second wheel toward the first wheel. In the second mode, the forward direction is from the first wheel toward the second wheel. The control device holds definition information that defines at least one of the detected parameter and the control amount. In the first mode, the control device executes the vehicle travel control in accordance with first definition information for the first mode. In the second mode, the control device executes the vehicle travel control in accordance with second definition information for the second mode.
