摘要: A crimp top seal which can be applied to a variety of different containers. Circumferentially displaced points or lines of contact between the crimp top seal and the container at axially displaced positions provide self-alignment and secure retention of the crimp top seal on the container. The resilient crimp top seal includes a top member, angular locking ribs, and a crimp ring or lugs--all of which engage the neck finish on the container. The inner diameter of the skirt of the crimp top seal, the angle of the locking ribs, and the crimp ring or lugs provide the multiple, axially displaced lines of contact and allow the crimp top seal to engage a variety of containers.

摘要: A molded closure for a liquid container comprising a thermoplastic elastomer and a blowing agent. The molded closure is particularly suitable for use as a synthetic wine cork in a wine bottle. The molded closure does not permit passage of oxygen into the container, does not absorb oxygen from the contents of the container, can be removed from the container using a corkscrew without significant expansion, crumbling or disintegration, does not significantly taint a liquid in the container, permits the container to be placed horizontally immediately after insertion of the molded closure, and can permanently retain printed matter on its surface.

摘要: A method of seal locking together a preformed plastic molded top lid portion of a gas filler cap to a preformed plastic molded threaded base portion of a gas filler cap. The preformed top lid portion of the gas cap is locked to a stationary preformed threaded base portion of a gas filler cap by spin welding a lower extending tab of the top lid portion into a mating channel in the base portion together. The tab can be a circular rectangular tab having a step down inner edge and an indentation cutout on the lower surface of the lid portion between the tab and an exterior side wall of the lid portion, wherein the indentation cut-out provides a sacrificial break point upon impact and allows the exterior side wall of the top lid portion to break-off without breaking the locking seal between the tab and the channel for reasons of safety upon impact. The channel can be a circular with an angled inner wall. The spin welding causes plastic material on the tab and channel that abuts together to heat, melt and sealingly fuse the tab and channel together.

摘要: A bottle having a sterility seal and a method for producing same are disclosed. The bottle, which can be configured to retain a medicament in powder or tablet form, features a protective cap configured to engage a transfer assembly associated with the bottle. The cap includes one or more raised ridges on an interior surface engageable with a portion of the transfer assembly. A band or layer configuration of a sealing material such as silicone is applied to the transfer assembly prior to insertion of the cap thereover. As the cap comes into surface contact with the sealing material, the ridges cause the material to "roll up" into a toroidal O-ring configuration, thereby forming a seal between the cap and the bottle adapted to the dimensional variations of those components. The seal, which is resilient, is able to withstand harsh handling treatment and pressure or temperature variations without separation from the cap or bottle, thereby providing a hermetic seal isolating the transfer assembly and, hence, the medicament from the outside environment.

摘要: A tamper evident seal and system for use on a variety of container and closure combinations providing a seal across the juncture of the container and closure and positive indication to consumers of tampering with the seal. The seal comprises a heat shrink band to which is applied at least one strip of a heat activated adhesive extending perpendicularly to the band's circumference and along the full length of the band. Perforations are provided along either edge to permit separation of the majority of the band from that portion to which the adhesive is applied. Indicia are provided on the band and on the container to indicate the presence or absence of the band. Application of the band to the container by heating causes the band to shrink into tight conformance with the container and closure obscuring the indicia thereon and bringing the adhesive into engagement with the container and closure. The heat activates the adhesive causing it to adhere that portion of the band to the container and closure across their juncture. Removal of the band will leave the adhered strip in place as a secondary safety seal and will expose indicia on the container to alert the consumer that the outer band has been removed and that the secondary safety seal should still be intact but must be broken to open the container.

摘要: A thin flexible fluid-tight cover of PVC is bonded to a rigid port of a diluent container which is to be subjected to heat sterilization. The cover includes an outer flange for bonding to a complementary surface around the port, and a removable section for spanning the port. The removable section includes a central flexible diaphragm portion and a cylindrical wall portion. The diaphragm portion has at least one annular convolution whereby the diaphragm section is axially expandable by flexing of the convolution. A tear line is provided in a frangible section which joins the cylindrical wall portion to the outer flange. The cylindrical wall portion of the cover is disposed adjacent the outer surfaces of an abutment wall on the port to provide stress relief against rupture of the tear line from stresses generated in the cover during sterilization. A narrow post element is located adjacent the wall portion for concentrating manual pulling forces from an attached pull ring to a limited segment of the tear line.

摘要: A resealable, anti-litter-type pop top beverage container wherein a rotatable tab member can be raised to depress a sealing member into the interior of the container to fully expose the lid opening for drinking or the like. The sealing member includes a second resealing lobe integral therewith and responsive to the rotation of the tab in a first direction for positioning the resealing tab beneath the lid opening and resealing the opening in an air-tight manner to prevent the escape of gases therefrom thereby preventing the beverage stored therein from going flat. The second or resealing member is also responsive to the rotation of the tab member in the opposite direction for unseating the resealing member and reexposing the lid opening to enable the remaining stored liquid contained therein to be drunk or poured therefrom.
