    摘要： A liquid crystal display panel (100A) includes: a first substrate (2) and a second substrate (3), a liquid crystal layer (1) retained between the first substrate (2) and the second substrate (3), and plurality of pixels. The liquid crystal layer (1) has a first liquid crystal region (81) and a second liquid crystal region (82) provided outside the first liquid crystal region (81). The first liquid crystal region (81) is essentially composed of a nematic liquid crystal material alone, whereas the second liquid crystal region (82) has a plurality of liquid crystal subregions (11) containing a nematic liquid crystal material and polymer-containing walls (12) formed between adjacent ones of the plurality of liquid crystal subregions (11). The plurality of pixels include pixels accounting for the first liquid crystal region (81) and pixels accounting for the second liquid crystal region (82).

    摘要： A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel having a pixel defined by at least three sub-pixels including a blue sub-pixel, a backlight which emits, toward the liquid crystal display panel, light that brings a color temperature to a predetermined level when the pixel displays white, and a color tone correction circuit which corrects a color tone of a color displayed by the pixel. When the pixel displays a color containing at least one predetermined color component that is other than a white component and a blue component, the color tone correction circuit performs a correction to set a luminance of the blue sub-pixel lower than an original luminance.

    摘要： A multi-primary color display device according to the present invention includes pixels, each having a plurality of sub-pixels. The plurality of sub-pixels include first, second, third and fourth sub-pixels for displaying first, second, third and fourth colors having first, second, third and fourth hues. The second and third hues are adjacent to the first hue on both sides thereof on an a*b* plane of an L*a*b* colorimetric system. When a color displayed by each pixel changes from black to an optimal color of the first hue, luminance values of the plurality of sub-pixels are set such that the luminance value of the first sub-pixel starts to be increased and also the luminance values of the second and third sub-pixels start to be increased at a rate of increase lower than the rate of increase of the first sub-pixel.

The device can perform rendering processing in which at least one of the pixels that form a first one of the at least two different types of subsets lends a luminance to a second type of subset. Each pixel includes a first subpixel and a second subpixel that could have mutually different luminances. The second type of subset borrows a luminance from one of the first and second subpixels of the at least one pixel that has the higher luminance.
