The monitoring device is mounted in a detachable housing part and directly detects movements of container during a nebulizing process, an air supply current in the region of a mouthpiece, and/or the production of aerosol, in order to detect this as the actual dispensing of fluid and actuation of the nebulizer, while preferably the time of actuation of the nebulizer is additionally detected and stored. For meteredly dispensing a liquid over a period of several months from a container which can be stored over a long period of time, the need is for a container which is practically diffusion-tight and in which the liquid does not come into contact with the ambient atmosphere. The cartridge according to the invention is a three-shell container comprising a collapsible bag which contains the liquid, a container which is stable in respect of shape and a stiff metal casing. The cartridge can be releasably connected to a dispensing device. The cartridge can be provided with a micro-opening with which the time for pressure equalisation between the cartridge and the ambient atmosphere can be adjusted. The cartridge is suitable for aqueous and for alcoholic liquids which contain a pharmaceutically active substance. The liquid in the cartridge is protected from external influences. The cartridge can be used in an atomiser for producing an inhalable aerosol for the treatment of illnesses.

For medical fluids, two-part containers are used which consist of an inner container and an outer container which is impenetrable to diffusion. The inner container collapses when the fluid is removed. For the purposes of pressure compensation between the gaseous space, disposed between the inner- and outer containers, and the surroundings of the two-part container, a pressure compensation device is required by means of which at the same time the loss of fluid through diffusion from the collapsible inner container is kept as little as possible. To that end, at least one channel is used which communicates the gas-filled intermediate space with the surroundings of the two-part container. The time constant for compensation of a pressure differential of a few millibars is within the region of quite a few hours. It is obtained by selecting the length of the channel and channel cross-section. The, at least one, channel can be produced individually, or a plurality of channels can be present in the form of pores in an open-pore sintered material or in a permeable membrane. The pressure compensation device permits storage of the two-part container for many years, and use for many weeks as fluid is being removed in portion-wise manner. During these times, the quantity of fluid in the inner container, or the concentration thereof changes substantially less than with the use of a known two-part container.

Needle-less injectors for liquids are known in many different forms which are adapted to different conditions of use. The needle-less injector according to the invention is in the form of a hand-held unit. It includes a locking stressing mechanism, an energy-storing spring (36), a hollow plunger (37) displaceable in a cylinder (38) and a nozzle (39). At its one end, the hollow plunger is provided with a valve body (42). The supply container (44) for the liquid is arranged within the housing. When the locking stressing mechanism is stressed by rotation of the two housing portions (31, 32) relative to each other the hollow plunger (37) is drawn out of the cylinder (38); at the same time the amount of liquid required for an injection is conveyed out of the supply container (44) through the plunger into the pump chamber (43). After the locking stressing mechanism is triggered the amount of liquid is expelled from the pump chamber through the nozzle. The needle-less injector can be safely and easily handled, even by unskilled persons. It is used for the intracutaneous injection of a medicament-bearing liquid into biological tissue, for the injection of an active substance-bearing liquid into a plant, or for the injection of a liquid through a membrane into the space behind the membrane.
