摘要: A ball bearing sleeve is used in a turbocharging device. The ball bearing sleeve has one or more ball bearings that are designed to control loads that are applied to the sleeve in the x, y and z-directions. The ball bearing sleeve is designed to replace the “thrust bearing” that is typically the “weak link” in a turbocharging device, as well as the journal bearings. The sleeve is designed to include a cylindrical portion that includes one or more grooves for directing the flow of oil around the sleeve for cooling. An oil duct having access holes directs the flow of oil into the ball bearings. Sleeve device may be retro-fitted into an existing turbocharger, which originally had journal and thrust bearings.

摘要: A continuous variable-ratio transmission includes a first rotatable member whose exterior surface of revolution about its axis of rotation is defined by a tractrix curve. A rotatable conical member is mounted upon a first shaft and frictionally engages with the tractrix surface. The second rotatable member is moveable along the tractrix surface and has a shape such that for any position along the tractrix surface, the ratio of any two contacting circumferences of the conical surface and the tractrix surface is substantially equivalent to the ratio of any other two contacting circumferences. A first gear of a gear assembly is operably connected to the first shaft. A rotatable splined shaft extends axially through a second gear of the gear assembly and engages with a splined interior surface thereof to thereby permit the gear assembly to move along the splined shaft with movement of the conical member along the tractrix surface. The axis of rotation of the splined shaft is maintained at a substantially consistent angle relative to a tangent line at a friction point on the tractrix surface for any position of the conical member along the tractrix surface to thereby maintain contact between the conical surface and the tractrix surface along substantially an entire length of the conical surface at any position.

摘要: A medical device used in patients with inefficient heart function to improve the efficiency of the pumping action of the heart. This device adds one or more one-way valves in the blood vessels and/or arteries, very near, but not in, the heart, thereby increasing the efficiency of the native heart. The device includes one or more one-way heart valves designed to go in arteries/veins that are connected to the heart, and which arteries and/or veins are the conduits for taking blood into/out of the heart. The one-way heart valve allows blood flow in only one direction. An optional sleeve (stent) may be placed outside the arteries/veins where the valve(s) are located to add support to the walls. An optional sleeve (stent) may also be used on the inside of the artery to insure the artery does not collapse during a vacuum phase of the beating.

摘要: A variable-ratio transmission device. A first translational member is pivotally intercoupled to a first rotational member by at least one connecting arm. The connecting arm has a first portion pivotally connected to the first translational member at a first pivot point, and a second portion pivotally and adjustably connected to the first rotational member at a first radial attachment point removed from the center of rotation of the first rotational member. The first radial attachment point and the center of rotation thereby define a first attachment radius. The location of the first radial attachment point with respect to the first rotational member is variable to thereby increase and decrease the first attachment radius, which in turn modifies a ratio of movement between the first rotational member and the first translational member.

摘要: A turbo lag reducer is a device which compresses air into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine (providing boost), and does so without the revolution speed restrictions of typical turbo- and super-charger devices. A turbo lag reducer device includes several portions or sections. A common impeller compressor device, an exhaust gas-driven turbine driving device, a mechanically-rotated transmission portion (operably connected to receive and transfer engine rotational movement from the engine to the impeller) and a clutch device. The turbine and the transmission device are both powered by the internal combustion engine into which the turbo lag reducer compresses air. The turbine is driven by high pressure exhaust gasses from the engine's combustion chamber, and also by a transmission device that is mechanically driven from the same engine. The transmission device is operably coupled to an engine and the clutch device (possible a unidirectional, overriding clutch and/or electrical or hydraulic switch type clutch) so as to rotate the clutch device of the turbo lag reducer, which is operably coupled to an impeller compressor. The impeller compressor is thereby caused to rotate by both exhaust flow from the engine's combustion chamber, as well as, by the mechanical rotation of the engine through the transmission device, with the clutch, configured so as to allow or cause either exhaust flow or mechanical means, to supercede the other as is needed to achieve the desired turbo boost, or the desired amount of compressed air for the engine's combustion chamber.
