摘要: The present invention comprises an implantable subcutaneous port for anchoring a transcutaneous treatment component. The implantable subcutaneous port comprises a body portion and one or more frangible lines formed within the body portion. The body portion is adapted for receiving the transcutaneous treatment component beneath the point of entry into the physiology of a patient and routing the transcutaneous treatment component. The body portion is produced from a deformable material and has an area footprint and defines a support wall through which the transcutaneous treatment component enters the body portion. Fracturing the one or more frangible lines formed within the body portion enables removal of the body portion from the physiology of a patient through a transcutaneous opening defining an area of less than thirty percent of the area footprint of the body portion.

摘要: The present invention is a modular implantable medical device that is used deliver materials or energy into a patient's physiology, or from one region of a patient's physiology to another. The device includes a port element with a passageway therethrough for directing and anchoring a conduit element in a desired location. Both elements can be adjusted during placement to maximize the safety, comfort, and efficacy of use. In one embodiment, the port element is comprised of two components such that the passage way is formed after the components are assembled. This modularity enables a large diameter section of the conduit to be advanced past the port location, and the port to be assembled about a smaller proximal section of the conduit, thereby establishing full contact between the port and conduit elements to anchor the device in an optimal position.

摘要: The present invention comprises a deformable, implantable subcutaneous port for anchoring a transcutaneous treatment component. A port body portion having a normal area port footprint is adapted by means of a port orifice for receiving and anchoring the transcutaneous treatment component beneath the point of entry into the physiology of a patient and for routing the transcutaneous treatment component. The port body portion is produced from a deformable material and has structure and/or composition that provides deformability characteristics of the port such that collapsing, folding, stretching, elongating and/or twisting the port body portion into a modified port shape having a reduced-size port profile enables removal of the port body portion from the physiology of a patient through a relatively small transcutaneous opening.

摘要: The present invention comprises a modular, implantable medical device comprising a body portion capable of receiving a treatment device that accesses a patient's inner physiology while communicating with a device external to the patient. The body portion further includes a first skirt and a second skirt that surround the treatment device at its junction with the body portion. Both skirts are designed to gradually affix themselves into the surrounding tissues of the patient's body during an initial phase of healing. The first skirt is designed to separate from the device at a lower force than the second skirt such that during removal, the device and second skirt can be detached as a unit from patient's skin and first skirt without excessive force or trauma and the first skirt remains attached to the patient's skin as a permanent implant.

摘要: Systems and methods for dynamically integrated capture, collection, authoring, presentation and production of digital content are provided. According to one embodiment, a user interface automatically captures and collects digital content as the digital content is viewed by a user. The user interface includes features for the user to author some or all of the collected digital content. A further embodiment of the user interface formats the digital content in the presentation band for previewing in a variety of production formats, including as a web page, webshow, digital video disk “DVD”) and/or printbook. The user interface then allows the user to save the presentation and/or produce the presentation at a production facility.

摘要: Exemplary systems and methods for web server based media production are provided. A server provides programming functionality to a client via a browser plug-in or other similar plug-in. The server is comprised of a digital media engine, which is further comprised of multiple modules that provide the programming functionality to the client via the browser plug-in. The processing power of the client is leveraged to author and produce a media production. User-supplied media content files and content theme settings are transmitted from the server to produce a media production.

摘要: The present invention is a surgical template adapted for use in implanting tissue ingrowth cuff assemblies and other semi-permanent or permanent transcutaneous medical devices. The surgical template of the present invention generally includes a body portion and a template portion, wherein the body portion is substantially planar in shape and the template portion protrudes there from. The template portion preferably defines and annular shape and a cavity therein through which a cutting tool can pass in order to extract an appropriate amount of the patient's dermis and connective tissue. The remaining orifice or passageway is sufficient in size to accept a transcutaneous medical device, particularly of the CVC-type described above. The present invention also includes marking means or a handle for properly spacing the catheter or device passageway from the initial incision through which the surgical template is placed.
