摘要： A gas analysis device includes a canister with a cavity that is configured to receive a gas sample. A sensor is in fluid communication with the cavity and analyzes a portion of the gas sample that is received from the canister. The device also includes a blower assembly in fluid communication with the sensor. The blower assembly is configured to selectively draw a portion of the gas sample from the canister past the sensor so that the sensor is exposed to the portion of the gas sample.

摘要： Systems and methods for transeptal cardiac procedures are disclosed. A patient treatment system in accordance with a particular embodiment includes a catheter, a tissue penetration device carried by and deployable from the catheter, an energy delivery device carried by an deployable from the catheter, a backstop surface carried by the catheter, and a flexible, resilient tissue compression device. The tissue compression device can be coupled between the energy delivery device and the catheter and can be changeable between a first configuration in which the energy delivery device applies a first force to the backstop surface via intervening tissue, and a second configuration in which the energy delivery device applies no force or a second force less than the first force into the backstop surface via intervening tissue.

摘要： The damaged portion of an injured tendon or ligament (C) ("connective cord") is inserted into a thin, hollow sleeve (100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 160, 180, 200, 240, 260, 270, 300, 390, generically designated "S") and is connected to the sleeve (S) such that the cord-sleeve combination can immediately withstand normal tensile forces. The interconnection can be mechanical, such as by pins (22, 22',148, 150, 164, 188, 190, 206, 206', 210, 226, 230, 238, 239, 266, 286, 308) extending through the sleeve (S) and cord (C). The sleeve (S) can be bioabsorbable over a sufficiently long period of time that the cord (C) is healed by the time the sleeve (S) is absorbed.

摘要： An apparatus (10) for spiral binding a stack of papers (24) together as a unit. The apparatus includes a punch (12) for punching a plurality of holes (23) along one edge of the stack of papers and a spiral binding unit (14) for feeding a spiral coil (36) into the holes. The spiral binding unit (14) includes an aperture (44) through which a coil is inserted between a shoe (74) and a rotatably mounted roller (72). As the coil (36) is inserted, the shoe (74) pushes the coil into contact with the roller (72). As the roller (72) rotates, the coil (36) is guided through a series of slots (86) which cause the coil to spiral into the holes in the stack of paper. The punch (12) includes a ramp (186) that presses a series of punch pins (188) through the stack of papers. The ramp (186) includes a plurality of steps (222) that incline upwardly on either side of a center step (224). The punch first punches holes in the center of the stack of papers and then punches holes outward from either side of the center. The apparatus includes indicators (38) that provide an operator an indication of the appropriate size of spiral coil to use, and an indication of when a wastebasket (52) holding the wastepaper requires emptying.
