Abstract: A system and method for calculating a draft/freeboard for a vessel. The system includes multiple sensor units, wherein each sensor unit includes a housing; a distance sensor to sense a freeboard from various positions in the vessel. The sensor unit includes a coupling member, such as magnets coupled to the housing that allow the sensor units to be mounted to the vessel. The sensor units can connect to a control unit for processing data and presenting the measurements. The system can calculate drafts from the freeboard data, wherein the freeboard data can be determined from different positions of the vessel.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein which may be implemented using computer programs comprising instructions that replicate the neural synchronization based natural intelligence algorithm of the human brain. These implementations result in the production and consumption of naturally forming intelligence in a computer system or network. An embodiment of the invention comprises an artificial brain, further comprising a thalamic controller, motion reactor, motion translator, motion actuator, time-dilation memory, and cognitive object interface. Data is translated from original format into thalamic motion and further encoded with motion signal protocol, then reproduced for the purpose of sensory perception and aggregated through a process of thought production, thereby replicating the process of natural intelligence in a manner designed to dramatically improve current artificial intelligence standards. By duplicating the human brain's natural intelligence process, overall computer intelligence should approach or surpass human level intelligence in automation and adaptation ability.

Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing a metered amount of a liquid comprises a body having sidewalls defining a hollow interior and an opening at a forward end of the body, a cartridge having a reservoir adapted to contain a liquid and an outlet at the forward end of the cartridge, the cartridge being sized and shaped to be positioned in the hollow interior of the body so that the outlet is aligned with the opening in the body. A plunger is positionable in the reservoir and slidable within the reservoir, and a metering unit comprises a plunger advancement mechanism that can cause the plunger to slide within the reservoir, the metering unit causing the plunger advancement mechanism to advance the plunger a predetermined amount. The metering unit is configured to cause advancement the plunger in the reservoir to apply pressure on the liquid in the reservoir and cause a droplet of the liquid to be dispensed through the outlet. The dispenser produces a droplet of from about 0.5 μl to about 10.0 μl. In one version, a droplet to droplet consistency of ±0.2 μl. In one version, the metering unit provides feedback to a user when the plunger has been advanced the predetermined distance.

Abstract: Methods of operating an SIP load balancer, one or more SIP server nodes and/or one or more SIP server instances are provided that efficiently manage a processing load. Configurations for an SIP load balancer, one or more SIP server nodes and/or one or more SIP server instances to enable efficient management of a processing load are also described. In certain ones of these, state data for a set of SIP processes may be sent from a SIP server instance and used by a SIP load balancer to remove inactive SIP processes from a data structure. The management of a processing load comprising a number of SIP processes following the failure of a SIP server node and/or a SIP server instance is also provided.

Abstract: An Ethernet network comprises nodes which support a plurality of different forwarding modes. A range of VLAN Identifiers (VIDs) are allocated to each of the forwarding modes. Connections are configured between a source node and a destination node of the network using different forwarding modes. Packets carrying data traffic are sent to the destination node by selectively setting a VID in a packet to a first value, to transfer a packet via a first connection and a first forwarding mode, and a second value to transfer a packet via the second connection and the second forwarding mode. Packets received from both of the connections and sent on to an end user. VLAN Identifiers can be allocated to different releases of functionality at nodes (e.g. software releases) such that packets are forwarded via a set of nodes supporting a first release, or via a set of nodes supporting a second release.
