摘要: The invention relates to an intravenous catheter apparatus comprising: a catheter hub arranged at a proximal end of a catheter tube, the catheter hub having an inner surface defining a chamber; a needle defining an axial direction and having a needle tip, the needle extending through the chamber and the catheter tube when in a ready position; a needle guard slidably arranged on the needle and at least partially received in the chamber when the needle is in the ready position, the needle guard including a base portion and first and second arms extending from the base portion, wherein the first arm is deflected radially outwards by the needle against a restoring force when the needle is in the ready position whereby the needle guard is brought into retaining contact with the catheter hub; and wherein the catheter apparatus includes a valve which separates a distal space arranged in distal direction from the valve from a proximal space arranged on proximal direction from the valve. The invention further provides that the valve opens based on a pressure differential between the pressure prevailing in the distal space and the pressure prevailing in the proximal space.

摘要: A balloon catheter having an elongated catheter shaft defining a fluid drainage lumen and a balloon inflation lumen. The balloon catheter includes a fluid drainage port disposed about the distal end of the catheter shaft in fluid communication with the fluid drainage lumen, and a balloon inflation port disposed about the distal end of the catheter shaft in fluid communication with the balloon inflation lumen. A balloon portion is disposed about the distal end of the catheter shaft in fluid communication with the balloon inflation port. A release device is disposed in fluid communication with the balloon portion and the fluid drainage lumen, and includes an activating member. A tether is attached to the activating member of the release device. Tension applied to the tether activates the release device, enabling fluid flow from the balloon portion into the fluid drainage lumen and out of the body.

摘要: Catheter devices and methods for intravascular heating and/or cooling of human or veterinary patients. The catheter devices generally comprise catheters having inflow and outflow lumens and at least one curvilinear balloon connected to the inflow and outflow lumens such that heat exchange fluid may be circulated through the balloon(s). The catheter is inserted into the vasculature and heated or cooled fluid is circulated through the balloon(s) to heat or cool blood flowing in heat-exchange proximity to the balloon(s), thereby effecting heating or cooling of all or a portion of the patient's body.

摘要: A dialysis catheter includes an elongate catheter member having an outer wall member defining proximal and distal end regions, and first and second longitudinal lumens. The outer member includes first and second ports in respective fluid communication with the first and second longitudinal lumens. The first opening and the first lumen define an inflow passage. The second opening and the second longitudinal lumen define an outflow passage. A valve is disposed relative to the outer member proximal of the first port. The valve is adapted to move from a closed position to an open position in response to a predetermined vacuum pressure level realized within the first longitudinal lumen to permit flow of blood through the valve and into the first longitudinal lumen. The valve may be adapted to move to the open position in the event of a luminal occlusion.

摘要: A thrombectomy and balloon angioplasty catheter for the removal of blood clots and debris from a blood vessel and/or for the dilation of a narrowed or completely closed segment in the blood vessel is disclosed. The catheter includes a shaft having a proximal end and a distal end, an angioplasty balloon mounted to the shaft adjacent the distal end of the shaft, and an occlusion balloon mounted to the shaft at a location proximally spaced from the angioplasty balloon. A guide wire lumen is arranged on the shaft. The guide wire lumen extends from a first position adjacent the distal end of the shaft to a second position proximal the angioplasty balloon and distal the proximal end of the shaft. The shaft includes an angioplasty balloon inflation lumen in fluid communication with the proximal end of the shaft and an interior space of the angioplasty balloon, an occlusion balloon inflation lumen in fluid communication with the proximal end of the shaft and an interior space of the occlusion balloon, and a thrombectomy lumen in fluid communication with the proximal end of the shaft and a thrombectomy suction port located between the angioplasty balloon and the occlusion balloon.

摘要: An ultrasound catheter with a lumen for fluid delivery and/or fluid evacuation, and ultrasound radiating elements is used for the delivery of therapeutic compounds to a target location. After the catheter is inserted into a cavity, a therapeutic compound can be delivered to the target location via selective activation of the ultrasound radiating elements. Selective activation of the ultrasound radiating elements can be used to cause fluid flow in a direction proximal and/or distal the catheter. Moreover, selective activating can be used to maintain fluid between certain of the ultrasound radiating elements.

摘要: A valved catheter is provided which includes a slit that opens readily in both directions either when a fluid is caused to flow from the interior to the exterior thereof or when a fluid is caused to flow from the exterior to the interior thereof, and that prevents inadvertent closure thereof from the opened state. The valve includes an openable slit that penetrates from the inner surface to the outer surface of a distal end section of a valved catheter with a closed distal end, and edge portions on the two sides of the slit are formed along the direction in which the valved catheter extends. The slit includes a linear shape in the cross-section of the distal end section of the valved catheter that extends in a position away from a center line “c” that passes through the center of the valved catheter in parallel with this center line “c” whereupon, either one of the edge portions deforms more readily than either one of the other edge portions.
