Abstract:
An apparatus includes a substrate having one or more fastener apertures that extend therethrough. Each fastener aperture has a centerline and includes first and second circular segmented regions and a central channeled region. Each circular segmented region has a diameter and a segment length that extends along the centerline, wherein the segment length is greater than one-half the diameter. The central channeled region extends along the centerline between the first and the second circular segmented regions. The central channeled region has a height that is less than the diameter of the first and the second circular segmented regions.
Abstract:
A stator subassembly includes an array of circumferentially arranged stator vanes. A damper spring is provided between the array and an outer case, which supports the array. The damper spring is configured to bias the array radially inwardly from the outer case.
Abstract:
A stator subassembly includes an array of circumferentially arranged stator vanes. An attachment liner secures the stator vanes to one another to provide the subassembly. A damper spring is integral with the attachment liner and is provided between the array and an outer case, which supports the array. The damper spring is configured to bias the array radially inwardly from the outer case.
Abstract:
A system for combining signals includes a first microphone generating a first input signal having a first voice component and a first noise component, a second microphone generating a second input signal having a second voice component and a second noise component, a mixing circuit, and an adaptive filter. The mixing circuit applies a first gain having a value α to the first input signal to produce a first scaled signal, applies a second gain having a value 1−α to the second input signal to produce a second scaled signal, and sums the first scaled signal and the second scaled signal to produce a summed signal. The adaptive filter computes an updated value of α to minimize the energy of the summed signal based on the summed signal, the first input signal and the second input signal, and provides the updated value of α to the mixing circuit.
Abstract:
A device includes a windscreen in a first surface, a gradient microphone housed in a capsule having first and second outlets coupled to openings in a second surface displaced from the first surface, a pressure microphone mounted between the first and second surfaces, and circuitry coupled to the gradient microphone and the pressure microphone and operable to combine the signals of the microphones and provide a combined microphone signal.
Abstract:
Polystyrene drainage beads having optimized shapes to provide increased specific gravity and void volume at a given bulk density. Expanded forms of such drainage beads may be used as a geosynthetic aggregate in pre-assembled drainage units. Such pre-assembled drainage units may be used as foundation drains, septic drainage fields, or for other applications.
Abstract:
An earpiece of an ANR device incorporates one or more of feedforward-based ANR; feedback-based ANR; passive noise reduction (PNR) of environmental noise sounds in the environment external to the casing of the earpiece in higher audible frequencies; a controlled leak acoustically coupling the front cavity to the environment external to the casing of the ANR device where the coupling may be through another cavity that is closable to the environment external to the casing with a leaky cover; a combination of an acoustically resistive port and a mass port coupling a rear cavity to the environment external to the casing where the coupling may be through another cavity that is closable to the environment external to the casing with a leaky cover; a feedforward microphone given acoustic access to the environment external to the casing through an aperture that is overlain with a leaky cover or that is enclosed within a cavity that is acoustically coupled to the environment external to the casing with a leak.
Abstract:
An apparatus, method and data structure for procuring and analyzing information, regarding the financial markets and a system to execute financial transactions using Internet-based front end graphics that resembles casino games and betting games. The system provides a comprehensive combination of financial information and transactions in a format that facilitates known and new casino/betting like front end graphics.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a formulation for targeting an epitope on an antigen expressed in a mammal. The formulation comprises a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier together with a dimeric biosynthetic construct for binding at least one preselected antigen. The biosynthetic construct contains two polypeptide chains, each of which define single-chain Fv (sFv) binding proteins and have C-terminal tails that facilitate the crosslinking of two sFv polypeptides. The resulting dimeric constructs have a conformation permitting binding of a said preselected antigen by the binding site of each said polypeptide chain when administered to said mammal. The formulation has particular utility in in vivo imaging and drug targeting experiments.
Abstract:
A method of inducing an immune response in a patient is provided. The method involves administration of bispecific molecules capable of recognizing and binding FcγRIII and a second antigen. The second antigen may be a cancer antigen, a viral antigen, a fungal antigen, a bacterial antigen or a toxin. The second antigen may or may not be present at the time the method of the invention is performed.
