摘要: A blood drawing system including a closeable first conduit through which drawn blood can flow; a first pressurizeable collection vessel for receiving blood therein; a hollow-shaft member; a second conduit leading from the first conduit to the first collection vessel; and a third conduit leading from the first conduit to the hollow shaft member connectable to a negative-pressure second collection vessel. Closing the first conduit allows blood transfer from the first vessel into the second vessel without exposure to or inclusion of any external devices to accomplish such transfer. Also included is an intravenous system with a conduit through which medicament liquid can be delivered and from which medicament liquid-free blood can be withdrawn. A first pressurizeable vessel first removes and conserves for reintroduction residual medicament liquid from the conduit, while thereafter a second negative-pressure vessel draws subsequent medicament liquid-free blood from the conduit.

摘要: A liquid medicament dispenser for controlled infusion delivery of liquid medication to a patient. The dispenser includes an elastomeric bladder for housing the liquid medication, an inlet in communication with the bladder for receiving the liquid medication into the bladder, and an outlet in communication with the bladder for discharging the liquid medication into an infusion tube for delivering the liquid medication to the patient. A flow regulator for controlling flow rate of the liquid medication through the infusion tube includes a flow rate adjuster with a manually operable adjuster knob for setting flow rate and an encasement housing releasably securable about the adjuster knob for impeding access to the adjuster once the proper rate has been set. By so protecting the flow rate adjuster knob with the encasement housing, accidental or deliberate re-adjustment of flow rate, as may be caused by the patient, is minimized while advantageously providing medicinal treatment utility among most patients because of integral adjustability of flow rate control.

摘要: A variable flow rate controller is provided herein. The controller may have a linearly traversable switch such that the controller is primed to flush air bubbles out of the fluid system of the controller prior to administering fluidic medication to a patient. Moreover, the controller may have a plurality of valves which may be independently opened and closed by a caming surface. To close the valve, a first seal may be disposed between offset inlet and outlet to prevent fluid from flowing from the inlet to the outlet. To open the valve, the first seal is disposed on one side of both of the inlet and outlet. Fluid if permitted to flow from the inlet to the outlet.

摘要: A safety needle device for protecting a user against inadvertent needle-stick injury. This needle device includes a needle housing having a distal housing opening. An arcuate groove extends within the needle housing terminating adjacent the distal housing opening. A needle is disposed within the arcuate groove having a distal needle portion extending away from the needle housing through the distal housing opening. An elongate sheath assembly surrounds the needle within the groove. A biasing member is disposed within the needle housing and is configured to move the sheath assembly throughout the length of the arcuate groove and through the distal housing opening. The sheath assembly then completely enclose the distal needle portion.

摘要: A heating system for warming nutritional liquid fed to a neonate or preterm infant may comprise a control module and a heater. The heating system is portable so that the heating system is not connected to a syringe pump or other device used to feed the neonate. The heater of the heating system is mounted to the tube that is used to feed the neonate. The heater is positioned along the tube in close proximity to the neonate so that a temperature drop of the nutritional liquid after the nutritional liquid exits the heater and reaches the neonate is negligible. The heater raises the temperature of the nutritional liquid to a target desired temperature (e.g., body temperature of the mother and neonate or to a temperature above the temperature of the mother and neonate) so that the neonate may consume warm nutritional fluid. Once the nutritional liquid reaches the neonate, the nutritional liquid is at about the body temperature of the mother or neonate or at least above room temperature.
