A method and system for managing passenger and vehicle safety is disclosed. The method includes registering a passenger based on an identification parameter received from the passenger when the passenger boards a vehicle. The method further includes monitoring a set of vehicle status parameters associated with the vehicle in real time. The method also includes generating a notification when a predefined notification condition occurs. The predefined notification condition is associated with at least one of the vehicle status parameters and the identification parameter. The method further includes deregistering the passenger based on the identification parameter when the passenger exits the vehicle.

Methods and compositions for altering amino acid composition of a protein of interest are provided, particularly proteins whose three-dimensional structure is unknown. The method comprises creating interacting molecules to the native protein and selecting for engineered proteins which retain the native conformation by antibody binding. In this manner, the levels of essential amino acids in a protein can be increased yet the biological activity of the protein maintained.

An image processing apparatus incorporating a field separating section for separating an original image into plural types of fields in response to a first image signal obtained at a rough density of the supplied original image, a characteristic value calculating section for calculating a characteristic value of the original image in response to a second image signal of the original image obtained at a density which is higher than the rough density, and a discrimination section for discriminating an image field of the original image in accordance with the characteristic value to correspond to the type of the field.

From input document data there are detected the features of the document, such as the top, bottom, left and right margins, the character space, the line space, the word space, the column space, the size and coordinates of each character, and the like. Values by which the spaces thus detected, including the character space and the line space, are to be adjusted, and a ratio at which to reduce or enlarge the characters are calculated from the features of the document and the minimum margins, the minimum character size and the like preset based on the size of the medium used in an output device such as laser printer. The coordinates of each character on the document is changed in accordance with these values and the character-reducing or -enlarging ratio. The size of the input image is changed based on the original and changed coordinates of each character. The data representing the image thus changed is supplied to the output device, which display or prints a document image, with the spaces adjusted and the characters output in an optimum size.

An image input section reads an image on a document, and simultaneously output image data of a plurality of pixels. An input image converting section generates second image data continuing in a sub-scanning direction based on image data. An image processing section provides a predetermined image processing to the image data to generate third image data. An image output section forms a duplicating image of an image on the document by simultaneously using a plurality of laser devices corresponding to each pixel based on the third image data. Image data in which a plurality of pixels is simultaneously input is arrayed and adjusted to be applied to a multi-beam output. As a result, an image processing for obtaining a high quality of the duplicating image can be performed at high speed.
