Abstract:
The invention relates to a valve or throttling device for a fluid flow, and particularly a flow containing solids, like a flow of pulp suspension. The valve has the following features: A hollow body of substantially rotational symmetry, which is traversed by liquid; the hollow body has a variable passage area which is substantially of rotational symmetry; and a main direction of fluid flow which is substantially axial to the longitudinal axis of the hollow body is provided in the hollow body. A liquid feed to the passage area is provided so that a component of rotation around the direction of the main stream is added to the liquid with reference to the direction of the main stream.
Abstract:
A turbulence insert of a headbox of a papermaking machine is provided that includes a bundle of channels for guiding the suspension of materials from a first region to a second region. The channel bundle is comprised inpart of edge channels that have no adjacent channel on at least one longitudinal side, and is also comprised in part of central channels that have at least one adjacent channel on each longitudinal side. Also, at least two adjacent edge channels are provided that are joined with each other at least one part of their length.
Abstract:
In a single wire dryer group, a paper web travels on one side of a support belt over a first dryer cylinder, then over a guide roll, then over a second dryer cylinder moving through the dryer group. A pocket is defined between the two adjacent dryer cylinders and the guide roll between them. To develop a vacuum within the pocket in the vicinity of the outer surface of the first dryer cylinder, there is a sealing ledge at the support belt at the first dryer cylinder. The sealing ledge is fastened to a sealing ledge support. An air guide surface on the side of the sealing ledge support away from the pocket is curved first in a direction toward the bottom of the pocket and then away from the pocket around axes above the air guide surface. Toward the second cylinder, the sealing ledge support defines an air ejector nozzle. A first air flow induced on the first dryer cylinder is deflected upward around and past the ejector nozzle by the curvature of the air guide surface. A second air flow traveling along the support belt past the second dryer cylinder is induced to pass through and exits through the nozzle. The first and second air flows are then combined at the outlet from the ejector nozzle.
Abstract:
Process for laterally sealing at least one excess pressure or vacuum zone adjoining a moving surface in a paper-making machine by way of a sealing device that includes at least one sealing element, the process comprising arranging the sealing device in a receptacle area of a holder, placing the sealing device relative to the holder against the moving surface, wherein the receptacle area is designed as a clamping receptacle, and acting on the sealing element with a clamping force through clamping surfaces of the clamping receptacle during its movement relative to the holder and in its applied state.
Abstract:
In a paper making machine for manufacturing a material web (10), such as in particular a paper or cardboard web, the material web (10) to be manufactured is transferred on the surface of a transfer means (24) to a take-off position (30) in the region of which a preferably air-permeable belt (32) having an at least substantially open surface is guided over a take-off roll (34) or the like and takes off the material web (10) from the surface of the transfer means (24). A pressing gap (36) extended in the web running direction (L) is formed at the take-off position (30) with the surface of the transfer means (24, 60) facing the material web (10) being deflected in the region of the extended pressing gap, while forming an at least substantially concave depression (38), and also being pressed by a pressing force intentionally generated in the region of this deflection against the take-off roll (34) in order to thereby assist the take-off of the material web (10) from the surface of the transfer means.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to a dryer section for an apparatus to produce webs of material, such as paper, carton or cardboard which shall consist of a number drying cylinders and carrier rollers, at least one dryer group which shall include at least one conveyer bend to direct the continuous material web along a meandering path around these drying cylinders and carrier rollers, and with at least one pressure cylinder to compress or smoothen the web of material. The pressure cylinder is located within the dryer group 3, 30 or 130, respectively, such that it is located within a region that is contained within the second and the second-to-last dryer cylinder of the dryer group.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a headbox of a paper machine wherein an inlet region is provided along the entire width of the machine for introducing the pulp suspension, a discharge region is provided for distributing the pulp suspension along the width of at least one screen, and channels are provided between the inlet region and discharge region in which turbulence is produced in the pulp suspension (turbulence region). According to the invention, the turbulence region is formed with the aid of a number of channels, the cross-section of which, perpendicularly to the plane of flow, has an elongated form and may be variable.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for reducing turbulence in a pulp flow stream flowing through a paper making machine headbox includes providing lamellae disposed in a portion of the headbox. A lamella end portion is modified which provides for the flushing of a dead space formed in the wake of the lamella. The modified lamella end portion produces small flow channels which divide the pulp stream flowing past the lamella into a plurality of substreams and guides the substreams into the region of the dead space.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a web of fibers, especially a web of paper. The pulp is uniformly distributed through an outlet over the width of the machine and along a wire or between two wires. Most of the moisture is subsequently extracted from the pulp accommodated on or between the wires at a draining point. Various amounts of retaining agents are added to the pulp at sections across the headbox and the web in order to control the level of retention sectionally.
Abstract:
The present invention is an air guide box. The box has a guide wall intended to lay adjacent to a running web. The guide wall has an air suction channel and a discharge opening. A drive jet blows air into the air suction channel to create suction, with the air being expelled through the discharge opening.
