摘要: An alkaline battery excellent in reliability, capable of surely suppressing an internal short circuit due to the growth of a dendritic crystal of zinc oxide, even when the amount of sodium remaining in an electrolytic manganese dioxide powder used for a positive electrode active material is large is provided. The alkaline battery has a positive electrode containing electrolytic manganese dioxide, a negative electrode containing zinc or a zinc alloy, a separator arranged between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and an alkaline electrolytic solution, the alkaline battery being characterized in that the positive electrode contains 0.1 to 0.7 parts by weight of sodium per 100 parts by weight of electrolytic manganese dioxide, and 0.003 to 0.05 parts by weight of silicon per 100 parts by weight of electrolytic manganese dioxide.

摘要: A battery pack includes: a cell assembly including a plurality of parallel arranged cells that are connected to each other through lead pieces; a planar terminal plate having positive and negative output terminals; and an outer case for accommodating the cell assembly, having one open end at which the terminal plate is arranged. In this battery pack, the outer case is a square tubular metal can with a bottom, the open end edge of the metal can is bent inwards to crimp seal the case with the terminal plate, and one or more apertures are formed in a side face of the metal can. This battery pack has improved battery performance and reduced cost due to increased inner volume of cells and reduced number of components. Furthermore, the battery pack secures high safety even in the event of a release of contents from cells.

摘要: A cylindrical cell is disclosed which is so constructed that an insulating ring is seated on the outside of the sealed part of the opening part of a cell case, the terminal face of a negative electrode plate is depressed below the outer face of a facing label covering the insulating ring, and a gas discharge hole formed in the negative electrode plate is concealed with the insulating ring. This construction prevents the cell from allowing flow of a current to an adjacent cell and consequently from being charged by the adjacent cell. Since the cell uses a thermally shrinkable insulating facing member, it enjoys improved reliability of the outer covering. Even if a plurality of such cells of the construction described above are used as arranged in series and part of the cells are erroneously connected with the direction of polarity thereof reversed to the remaining cells, the possibility of the reversely connected cells allowing flow of current to the remaining cells and consequently being charged by the remaining cells will be precluded and the possibility of the device in use being smeared or harmed by the electrolyte otherwise suffered to leak when the reversely connected cells are charged by the remaining cells will be eliminated.

摘要: The present invention relates to a process to manufacture alkaline cells by applying electrically conductive paint on an inner wall area of cathode container which contacts with cathode molds, and by heating said cathode container itself by applying electromagnetic induction in order to dry and/or cure the paint and to form a uniform electrically conductive coating layer adhered firmly on the inner wall of said container. By employing this process, continuous production of alkaline cells having excellent and uniform load characteristics which deteriorate very little became possible.

摘要: The present invention provides a cylindrical alkaline battery comprising a positive electrode case of a cylindrical form having an opening at one end and accommodating an electricity-generating element comprising a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator and an alkaline electrolytic solution, an insulating gasket provided at the opening of the positive electrode case, a bottom plate being the negative electrode terminal provided on the gasket, and a heat-shrinkable member such as shrink tube or the like covering the outer surface of the positive electrode case. In this battery, the opening end of the positive electrode case and the outer surface of the battery extending therefrom are covered with an electrical insulating film. The presence of the electrical insulating film prevents the exterior short circuit between the positive electrode case and the bottom plate being the negative electrode terminal which may occur when the metal material of the case opening is exposed by the peeling or abnormal shrinkage of the heat-shrinkable member.The present invention also provides a cylindrical alkaline battery comprising a reinforcing washer provided between the bottom plate being the negative electrode terminal and the gasket. In this battery, electric insulation is established between the bottom plate being the negative electrode terminal and the washer or between the gasket and the washer and the presence or the electric insulation cuts off the possible electric reaction route forming a local cell and prevents the resultant leakage of the electrolytic solution.
