    摘要: An obturator is provided for a projectile launched from a gun barrel. The projectile has a mid-body annular groove that includes a shaped surface. The obturator includes an annular ring having an inner surface in contact with the shaped surface of the annular groove of the projectile. The annular ring further includes an outer surface. When the projectile is in the gun barrel, the outer surface of the annular ring contacts an inner surface of a bore of the gun barrel. The radial distance between the inner surface and the outer surface of the annular ring substantially equals or exceeds the radial distance between the shaped surface of the annular groove and the inner surface of the bore of the gun barrel at at least one point when the projectile is positioned in the barrel. This feature restricts a flow of charge gases from an aft end of the projectile to a forward end of the projectile when the projectile is launched from the gun barrel.

    摘要: An integrated circuit protection device for use with a voltage regulator used to drive an integrated circuit to prevent damage to the integrated circuit which goes into a "latch up" condition. The integrated circuit protection device comprises a first switching circuit, connected to the output of the voltage regulator for selectively connecting the output of the voltage regulator to ground and a second switching circuit, connected to the input and the output of the voltage regulator and to the first switching circuit, for detecting a "latch up" condition and for selectively activating the first switching circuit upon detection of a "latch up" condition, whereby the first switching circuit connects the output of the voltage regulator to ground and resets the integrated circuit to prevent damage thereto. A predetermined time after the "latch up" condition is detected, normal operation is automatically restored. In another embodiment, the first switching circuit is included in an adjustable voltage regulator, but is still controlled by the second switching circuit as described hereinbefore. In still another embodiment the protection circuit monitors the input current drawn by a voltage regulator and cuts the current thereto when the current exceeds a predetermined value caused by the "latch up" condition of the integrated circuit. The output of the voltage regulator drops to zero and clears the integrated circuit.

Bared ends of two fiber optic waveguide cable sections are held in mutually-aligned end-to-end adjacent positions in opposite extension along a common rotary axis by a pair of ferrules having central through-openings in which such ends coextend and are bonded in close fit. The ferrules are held in precise axial position by abutment at their inner ends with annular shoulder in a pair of alignment caps mounted in two members movable relatively about such rotary axis. Retaining sleeves screwed into the relatively turnable members cooperate with washer members on the ferrules to obtain such abutment, and the ferrules project through openings in the alignment caps to obtain precise radial positioning. A friction-free rotary bearing interconnects the two relatively turnable members. The bearing is preloaded along the axis of rotation to give precise axial and radial positions of the one turnable member relative to the other.
