An apparatus and method of removing carrier from an article are provided. The apparatus includes a heater positioned to direct heat toward an article travel path. The heat has an emission spectrum with a peak emission wavelength and the carrier having an absorption spectrum with a peak absorption wavelength. The peak emission wavelength of the heat substantially corresponds to the peak absorption wavelength of the carrier.

A nail polish removing composition including fatty acid methyl or ethyl esters, N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone or similar solvent, and a surfactant. The improved nail polish remover has good polish dissolving and removal characteristics, low volatility, low flammability, very low odor, easy clean-up, and skin conditioning properties. In an alternative embodiment, a thickener is added to make the composition a non-pourable gel.

Apparatus for producing an oscillating signal in a predetermined phase relationship with an input signal which generates its output signal by mixing in variable proportions two or more reference oscillating signals. Preferably the reference signals should be in quadrature relationship and have approximately the same frequency as the desired output, but this is not essential. The output signal may be desired to be in phase with the input signal or to have a predetermined phase offset. In a further aspect, apparatus is described which generates quadrature related clock signals, which may be used as the reference signals in the phase-lock arrangement.

A method and system for domain name resolution in a communications network including the steps of intercepting communication to and from the network and replacing DNS primary and DNS secondary IP address by an interceptor program. The interceptor program copies then replaces the IP addresses in messages received from the network to a spoof address so that an alternate application will receive the domain name resolution requests. The interceptor program replaces the IP addresses in messages sent to the network from the spoof address to the copied addresses. The alternate application receives the domain name resolution request and replaces the IP address of the request which is the spoof address to the copied IP addresses. The alternate application sends the domain name resolution requests to the copied IP addresses operatively simultaneously.

An apparatus and method of treating a recording element are provided. The apparatus includes a carrier removal station adapted to remove a predetermined percentage of carrier present in the recording element. A converting station is positioned downstream from the carrier removal station and is adapted to increase a durability characteristic of the recording element. A controller is electrically connected to at least one of the carrier removal station and the converting station so that an operating parameter of at least one of the carrier removal station and the converting station is individually adjustable.
