摘要: An ablation apparatus places electrodes at the perimeter of a cavity. In an embodiment, the alternating electric field is used to expose the cavity to enough energy to ablate the cavity. In an embodiment, two modes are used to expose different regions of the cavity to different amounts of power for so that the thermal effect is more uniform. In an embodiment, the electrodes have a relatively large surface area so as to avoid charring the cavity, but are shaped so as to fit within a body orifice. For example, the diameter of the sheathed housing the electrodes during penetration may be only 5.5 mm.

摘要: A cryoablation system including a cannula having a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis, an expandable balloon extending from the distal end of the cannula and fluidly connected to a source of heat transfer fluid by at least one fluid path, a pump for circulating the heat transfer fluid into and out of the balloon, a probe handle coupled to the proximal end of the cannula and in fluidic communication with the balloon through the cannula, and a heat exchanger for varying the temperature of the heat transfer fluid, wherein the heat exchanger is fluidly connected to a secondary refrigerant source. The heat exchanger may be positioned within the probe handle, within the cannula, or at least partially within the balloon. The heat transfer fluid of this cryoablation system preferably has a freezing point lower than about −110° C. and a boiling point greater than about 50° C.

摘要: A tubular prosthesis comprises a tubular graft; and an undulating stent having a plurality of apexes, a first end defined at least in part by a first group of the apexes, and a second end defined at least in part by a second group of the apexes, the first group of apexes being pivotally attached to the tubular graft so as to form a plurality of circumferentially arranged hinges about which the stent can pivot so that the second group of apexes can move between a position where they are inside the tubular graft and a position where they are outside the tubular graft. In one embodiment a tubular prosthesis comprises a tubular graft having a first end margin, a second end margin and a central portion therebetween; and an undulating stent having a plurality of apexes, a first end defined at least in part by a first group of the apexes, and a second end defined at least in part by a second group of the apexes, the undulating stent being secured to the tubular graft in a manner such that it can be inverted to extend generally in the same direction as the tubular graft with one end thereof forming an end of said tubular prosthesis and pointing away from the central portion of the tubular graft.

摘要: A medical device is provided and includes a thermal ablation catheter and a deployable cage assembly for use in thermal ablation therapy. The deployable cage assembly includes a plurality of arms, each of which has a pair of opposed ends attached to the thermal ablation catheter. Each of the arms is movable from a relaxed configuration to a deployed configuration. When relaxed, the arms are substantially proximate to the thermal ablation catheter. When deployed, the arms cooperate with each other to form an open structure which extends radially outward from the thermal ablation catheter. The thermal ablation device also includes a distensible bladder that serves as an endocervical seal.

摘要: A stent graft system and method of use includes a stent graft for fixation at an attachment site with graft material defining at least one opening having an opening perimeter; a support attached to the graft material; a guide rail attached around the opening perimeter; and a helical anchor having a plurality of coils with a point at one end. The plurality of coils are rotatable around the guide rail to cause the pointed end of the coils to penetrate the graft material and the adjacent tissue in contact with the stent graft to sew the stent graft to the attachment site.

摘要: A stent graft system includes a first stent graft having a first end and a second end opposing the first end. The system further includes a second stent graft in fluid communication with the first stent graft. The second stent graft defines a lumen a third end in fluid communication with the second end. The second stent graft further includes a fourth end opposing the third end, and at least a first sleeve and second sleeve extending radially therefrom and in fluid communication with the lumen, The first sleeve is radially offset from the second sleeve. Each of the first sleeve and second sleeve comprises a flexible material configured to evert between a first position such that the sleeve is positioned within the lumen and a second position such that the sleeve is positioned exterior to the lumen. The system further includes a third stent graft.

摘要: A malleable shaft device for use in surgical procedures, having a tension fiber therein, whereby the malleable shaft transitions from a malleable state to a rigid state when a force is applied to the tension fiber, has a variable-pitch cam operatively connected to the tension fiber, and a lever operatively connected to the variable pitch cam for applying force. The mechanical advantage of the cam changes with displacement to accommodate increasing load, and to increase the rate of travel while loads are light. The force profile may provide for a constant input force to accomplish the full travel of the cam.
