    摘要: In accordance with an example embodiment of the present invention, there is provided an apparatus, comprising a receiver configured to receive sensor data, a transmitter configured to cause the sensor data, or data derived at least in part from the sensor data, to be transmitted, wherein the transmitter is further configured to transmit a metadata request to a first node. In some embodiments, the apparatus is a sensor node for inclusion in a sensor network, the sensor node capable of measuring at least one physical property to produce the sensor data.

    摘要: An incoming data packet is received, and a rate of change of residual capacity of a portable power supply is determined. From the determined rate of change it is decided to enqueue or drop the incoming data packet. If the decision is to enqueue, the packet is transmitted. If the decision is drop, the packet is deleted without transmitting. Additional factors may be considered in the decision, such as total energy capacity, residual energy capacity, and first and second derivatives of the residual energy capacity. Real time traffic may be treated differently than non real time traffic, and video enhancement layer packets can be weighted to drop more frequently than video base layer packets for the same flow. If used in the network, congestion probe packets are dropped at a rate matched to the rate at which data packets are dropped to give other nodes an accurate view of link quality.

    摘要: A method, apparatus, and computer program product are provided for making network optimization decisions based on observed network node performance information. Network nodes may continuously report performance measurement information to network servers. Observers may request registration with the and access to the mode measurement information. The observer may specify a measurement threshold that, when met, causes the server to report node measurement data to the observer. The node measurement data enables the observer to make network optimization and control decisions. An optimal radio frequency might be selected; a node might switch between different gateways or cause a handoff from one gateway to another for efficient traffic routing. A user could observe measurement data for friends and receive notice when friends are in close proximity or engaged in like activity such that a social contextual community might be formed.
