摘要: Described herein is a telepresence system where a real-time a virtual hologram of a user is displayed at a remote display screen and is rendered from a vantage point that is different than the vantage point from which images of the user are captured via a video camera. The virtual hologram is based at least in part upon data acquired from a sensor unit at the location of the user. The sensor unit includes a color video camera that captures 2-D images of the user including surface features of the user. The sensor unit also includes a depth sensor that captures 3-D geometry data indicative of the relative position of surfaces on the user in 3-D space. The virtual hologram is rendered to orientate the gaze of the eyes of the virtual hologram towards the eyes of a second user viewing the remote display screen.

摘要: A detected region of interest is used to reduce the data processed by a capture device and/or transmitted by the capture device to a console, and/or to reduce power consumption by the capture device. Raw data from the one or more sensors is processed in the capture device to reduce data corresponding to regions outside the region of interest. Such a data reduces computational requirements, which conserves power. Operational parameters of the capture device are adjusted based on the region of interest mask. A field of view, the resolution, or the sensitivity of at least one of the sensors may be narrowed to focus resources on the region of interest. Adjusting the operational parameters of a sensor reduces the power consumption of the capture device and reduces data input. An illumination source may be adjusted to focus the illumination source on the region of interest to use less power.

摘要: Systems and methods for providing multi-channel audio using a reduced amount of resources for the decoding process. A 5.1 channel audio stream is divided into three stereo streams. The packets from each of three stereo streams are multiplexed to create a pseudo-5.1 channel audio stream. The pseudo 5.1 channel audio stream is then decoded and demultiplexed at the output to create the output 5.1 channel audio sound. As such, the decoder resources only have decode a single pseudo 5.1 stream. This technique is equally applicable to 7.1 or other multi-channel formats.

摘要: Systems and methods for compositing an image directly from multiple source image data for reducing system memory footprint and bandwidth and for improving color quality of the image. The image is divided into spans, lines, and slices. Each line includes at least one span and each slice includes at least one line. All lines in a slice have spans associated with identical sources. An image is composited by reading the image data directly from one or more sources of each span. If necessary, the sources are blended. A control structure is used to provide the image context and identifies the sources of the spans. The control structure includes headers for each data stream from each source of each span. Also, the color quality of the image is improved by reducing the number of color space conversions that occur as the image is composited. All sources in the same color space are blended before being blended with sources from other color spaces. Preferably, no more than a single color conversion is required.

摘要: A system and method of synchronizing a media stream involves determining urgency measures and favorability measures. An urgency measure relates to a degree by which a media stream is currently out of synchronization. A favorability measure indicates the disruptiveness or likely noticeability altering the media stream at a particular temporal point. As a media stream becomes more and more out of synchronization, the urgency factor increases, and the system looks for places in the media stream at which units such as video frames or audio samples can be added or subtracted to re-achieve synchronization. When the urgency measure is at lower values, the system selects only points in the media stream having relatively high favorability measures. When the urgency measure increases, the system selects points having relatively lower favorability measures.

摘要: A sensor manager provides dynamic input fusion using thermal imaging to identify and segment a region of interest. Thermal overlay is used to focus heterogeneous sensors on regions of interest according to optimal sensor ranges and to reduce ambiguity of objects of interest. In one implementation, a thermal imaging sensor locates a region of interest that includes an object of interest within predetermined wavelengths. Based on the thermal imaging sensor input, the regions each of the plurality of sensors are focused on and the parameters each sensor employs to capture data from a region of interest are dynamically adjusted. The thermal imaging sensor input may be used during data pre-processing to dynamically eliminate or reduce unnecessary data and to dynamically focus data processing on sensor input corresponding to a region of interest.

For example, one disclosed embodiment provides a system for classifying pixels comprising retrieval logic; a pixel storage allocation including a plurality of pixel slots, each pixel slot being associated individually with a pixel, where the retrieval logic is configured to cause the pixels to be allocated into the pixel slots in an input sequence; pipelined processing logic configured to output, for each of the pixels, classification information associated with the pixel; and scheduling logic configured to control dispatches from the pixel slots to the pipelined processing logic, where the scheduling logic and pipelined processing logic are configured to act in concert to generate the classification information for the pixels in an output sequence that differs from and is independent of the input sequence.
