摘要: A method and apparatus for controlling digital video recording where parameters related to encoding video frames that are being currently encoded are stored when a pause command is received during recording and the method and apparatus continually record, based on the stored parameters, when the pause command stops, and a camcorder including the pause function. The method includes: receiving a pause command; storing parameters related to encoding video frames that are presently being encoded in a memory, and then stop encoding video frames that are input after the parameters are stored in the memory; and encoding video frames that are input after receiving a pause release command using parameter information related to encoding when the pause release command is received. Thus, video recording efficiency can be improved by having the pause function.

摘要: A reliable decoder and decoding method in a digital multimedia broadcast reception system. The reliable decoding method includes: performing an interrupt service routine to store a stream index; reading the stored stream index if an interrupt call signal is received and by depacketizing a packet having the read stream index, extracting decoding information; and by referring to extracted decoding information, reading a payload included in the packet and decoding the read payload. Accordingly, since preparation of decoding is processed by using an interrupt method, a plurality of elements do not need to be checked continuously unlike in a polling method, such that the performance of an MPEG-4 system is enhanced.

摘要: A method and wireless communication system for providing QoS in a wireless network communicating through a point-to-point network are provided. The method includes: (a) at least one of intermediate nodes and a receiving node, selecting at least one QoS management node among different nodes within a predetermined range which are not included on a forwarding route, the forwarding route reaching from a transmitting node to the receiving node via at least one intermediate node satisfying QoS requirements; (b) the selected QoS management node, managing QoS management information of the different nodes which are not included on the forwarding route; and (c) the QoS management node, changing the forwarding route on the basis of the QoS management information so that the changed forwarding route passes through a different node satisfying the QoS requirements, if it is expected that at least one intermediate existing on the forwarding route will not satisfy the QoS requirements. Therefore, it is possible to reduce end-to-end delay and route discontinuity and provide QoS in a wireless communication system.

摘要: A method for recording and reproducing trick play data to and from a digital video tape is provided. In the recording method, an advanced television (ATV) signal which contains normal data used during a normal play mode and intra-frame data used during a trick play mode is input. Furthermore, the intra-frame data, which is capable of being independently decoded, is extracted from the ATV signal. Then, the size of the intra-frame data is adjusted to a predetermined picture size by partially decoding the intra-frame data to produce windowed intra-frame data, and the windowed intra-frame data is recorded as trick play data on the digital video tape. In the reproducing method, the ATV signal containing the normal and trick play data are reproduced from the digital video tape. Moreover, the trick play data is extracted from the ATV signal and formatted during a trick play mode, and the normal data is extracted from the ATV signal during a normal play mode. Then, the normal play data or trick play data is selectively output to a decoder. Accordingly, the method enables various types of video head scanners to record or reproduce the trick play data at a maximum multiple-speed (e.g. a 13-multiple-speed) or less than the maximum multiple-speed. In addition, a recording and reproducing apparatus which performs the method above is also provided.

摘要: An apparatus for decoding compressed image data which is variable length coded, having a single segment memory. An input data processor counts the effective AC data and generates an address of where to write the AC data. An MR/VR flag write processor counts all of the MR/VR flags existing in one segment synchronous section stored in the segment memory and generates an address of where to write MR/VR flags existing in the respective DCT blocks. An MR/VR flag memory stores the address of where to write the MR/VR flag generated in the MR/VR flag write processor. An MR/VR flag read address generator generates the address of where to read the MR/VR flag stored in the MR/VR flag memory. An AC data read address generator generates the address of where to read the AC data stored in the segment memory with reference to a start absolute address. A run/amplitude buffer latches the run/amplitude data read from the segment memory. An address reducer clears the latched run and amplitude data before the data of the next area is read, and reduces the address increased due to the run and amplitude in the case where the run does not exist and only amplitude data exists in the data read from the segment memory. A DCT block counter counts the DCT blocks in order to determine in which DCT block the MR/VR data latched in the run/amplitude buffer exists.

摘要: An image coding method includes the steps of producing a complexity normalizing signal for respective macro blocks based on a complexity in a space domain with regard to an input image, producing a zero coefficient sum by performing a discrete cosine transform operation on the input image and counting the discrete cosine transform coefficients from -1 to +1, producing a zero coefficient normalizing value for respective macro blocks in accordance with the zero coefficient sum; producing a transient weight signal for respective macro blocks in accordance with the zero coefficient sum and a predetermined compression ratio, and summing the complexity normalizing signal, the zero coefficient normalizing value and the transient weight signal so as to produce the scale factor. The quantization step size of the discrete cosine transform coefficients is controlled in a macro block in accordance with the scale factor. Thus, image frames having various complexities can be encoded at a constant bit rate with no deterioration of the image.
