Abstract:
Disclosed are methods for discovering agonists and antagonists of the interaction between UDP-glucose, UDP-galactose, UDP-glucuronic acid, UDP-N-acetyl glucosamine, as well as related UDP sugars, and their cellular receptor, human KIAA0001, which may have utility in the treatment of several human diseases and disorders, including, but not limited to: infections such as bacterial, fungal, protozoan and viral infections, particularly infections caused by HIV-1 or HIV-2; pain; cancers; diabetes, obesity; anorexia; bulimia; asthma; Parkinson's disease; acute heart failure; hypotension; hypertension; urinary retention; osteoporosis; angina pectoris; myocardial infarction; restenosis; atherosclerosis; diseases characterized by excessive smooth muscle cell proliferation; aneurysms; wound healing; diseases characterized by loss of smooth muscle cells or reduced smooth muscle cell proliferation; stroke; ischemia; ulcers; asthma; allergies; benign prostatic hypertrophy; migraine; vomiting; psychotic and neurological disorders, including anxiety, schizophrenia, manic depression, depression, delirium, dementia, and severe mental retardation; degenerative diseases, such as neurodegenerative diseases and dyskinesias, such as Huntington's disease or Gilles dela Tourett's syndrome, among others.
Abstract:
A turbine generator hydrogen filtration system having an improved membrane filter for the removal of gases and particulates is provided. The system comprises a membrane filter operably connected with defoaming tanks. The hydrogen stream is routed through an improved membrane filter where air and other contaminants such as oil are removed. The hydrogen is recirculated into the hydrogen cooled generator. The membrane filter employed in the system is one of several palladium based membrane filters which effectively remove air and other contaminants and provide high hydrogen through-put.
Abstract:
The present invention provides various techniques to improve the security of data transmissions in RFID systems. Systems and methods for constructing more secure RFID tags, readers, and servers are disclosed enabling individuals to minimize privacy exposure while taking care to avoid needlessly overcomplicating the user's RFID transactions.
Abstract:
A method, system and apparatus for supporting a light fixture in an aperture formed in a planar member is disclosed. An aperture is first cut in the planar member at the point where the lighting fixture is to be installed and a light fixture support structure having at least two mounting straps positioned about the perimeter of the light fixture support structure for retaining the light fixture support structure in position in the aperture formed in the planar member is positioned in the aperture by an installer. The light fixture support structure mounting straps are then positioned contiguous with the inner surface of the planar member and are manipulated such that the light fixture support structure is maintained in position in the aperture. The light fixture support structure includes a perimeter member having a wall portion and a lip portion and having at least two slots formed at the junction of the wall and the lip and at least two mounting straps positioned in the at least two slots for retaining the light fixture support structure in position in the aperture formed in the planar member. The mounting strap including a hook member at one end and a v shaped two leg member at the other end with each of the legs having a flange member for engaging the surface of the planar member. Methods of installing remodeler light fixtures in a planar member are also disclosed.
Abstract:
An ion implantation apparatus, system, and method are provided for connecting and disconnecting a workpiece holder from a scan arm. A twist head is provided, wherein an electrostatic chuck is operable to be mounted, wherein one or more rotating and non-rotating members associated with one or more of the twist head and electrostatic chuck have one or more dynamic electrical and fluid rotary connections associated therewith. The electrostatic chuck is further operable to be removed from the twist head without disconnecting the one or more dynamic fluid seals.
Abstract:
An improved recessed fixture frame and method for installing the recessed fixture frame in new, existing or rough-in construction is disclosed. The improved recessed fixture frame includes a frame band for supporting and surrounding a fixture housing and at least one mounting assembly connected to the frame band in such a manner that the frame band is capable of being adjusted between the ends of the mounting bars. The mounting assembly includes at least one hinged mounting stub operatively hingeably connected to at least one end of the mounting assembly. Each hinged mounting stub includes a fastening means for affixing the recessed fixture frame to a structural member in a first position. In the first position, the recessed fixture frame extends downwardly from the structural member. After the fixture frame has been wired-in, the fixture frame is rotated about ninety degrees (90.degree.) about the hinged mounting stubs to a second position where the non-hinged mounting stub at the other end of the mounting assemblies are operatively connected to a second structural member.
Abstract:
Embodiments include systems and methods for collection and identification of particulates in the air. In one embodiment, two different path ways are provided from a single adjustable inlet: one for collection and one for detection. A removable insert positionable within a collection tube enables a user to switch between the collection mode and the detection mode. This embodiment captures both the physical mechanisms of switching the air flow paths as well as sequencing of controls and valves and regulation or changing the air flow rate in the different modes of operation. This and other embodiments are disclosed herein.
